as no-one has replied ill suggest this -

if youre on samui already, ask at a dive company, they will know of good snorkelling sites and many of the dive boats will take snorklers out on their day trip dive boats...

obviously make sure that the scheduled dive is not a 40m wreck in open water - as you wont have much to look at, im sure youll be able to find dive tours to islands, reefs and pinnacles which can provide good snorkeling, the only problem with some sites is that it could be unsafe for surface swimmers getting washed into the rocks etc.

many other island tours by speedboat will often stop somewhere for snorkelling... failing that, hire your kit and go straight off the beach, mind jetskis, speedboats etc.

and if thats not up to much - say screw the snorkelling and do a PADI Try Dive or OpenWater Course, if you've not already.

good luck

Waterfall,

The best place is without a doubt Koh Nangyuan, next to Koh Tao.

Lomprayah and it's big catamaran go there every day.

Other than that, many dive operators have daytrips to Koh Tao by speedboat which is a very good alternative (Mango Bay).

Marine Park can be very good as well, although Sail Rock is great for diving, it's not as good for snorkeling.

Appreciate any advise on where is the best place to go snorkeling? Also which tour company would you recomend we join

we've had 4 days of high wind and rain, I doubt there's any good snorking in the gulf of thailand at the moment.

i don't know samui but in Ko Phangan, go to Ko Ma in the north west corner of the island.

Very good reply.

The weather wasn't too good with strong winds and nasty waves lately

so underwater visibilty is poor.

I suggest to jump into the water anywhere you want because you gonna see everywhere the same >>> nothing. Wait for few days, if weather is fine take Mango Bay trip, Koh Pahnghan.
