2012 Model Motorbike

Featured Replies

i want buy new motorbike, if i buy now, will it be 2012 model or i have to wait new year? thanks

If your talking about big bikes, (250+cc) It depends. Some models have 2012 out already, some you will need to wait till probably February.

Keep in mind that the Thai Land Transport Department registers bikes by date of registration. So a 2012 model year that you buy and register in Nov. 2011 will have 2011 (2554) in the registration book regardless of model year. I am told this is because the DLT's computers are physically unable to register a bike/car out of the current year.

Most of the 2012 Kawasaki's are already available but as mentioned, it will still be a 2011 bike in the greenbook unless you wait a couple of months before you register it.

It can affect insurance as well. My GSXR insurance increased (albeit by a minimal amount) when they saw the green book, because then they felt it was a 2007 model and therefore worth more money (it's a 2005 model imported and registered in 2007).

I wish I could afford an 1199S Panigale
