Hello

I am looking for a shop in Bangkok with a large choice of small scale models (maquette) especially tanks WW II

Any help would be great

Thank you

Where can I buy small scale models?

The most widely distributed source would be Central department stores, the only chain that stocks appreciable numbers of what I assume you mean - plastic 'Airfix' type kits (?) They also have basic tools, glues and paints.

Tamiya models at Royal City Avenue is the place for, unsurprisingly Tamiya kits and more advanced tools, better selection of paints. thinners, glues etc.

http://www.modelivery.com seem to have big promise, but their website is a shambles. The one day I actually got out to them (Thonburi Market) they were closed annoyed.gif.

Most other Thai model shops I've managed to visit are shambles and not keen on customers: Amorn opposite Panthip Plaza would rather not be disturbed; there's one on Chulalongkorn 42 behind National Stadium that is a disorganized mess with staff that know nothing; the one on Chula 5(?) seems to have disappeared. There's another in the basement of Fortune Town, almost under the Tesco end of things, but mostly RC.
There's a little 'English' button/link near the top-right (not much of an improvement rolleyes.gif)

Tamiya have lots of cars, especially the ever popular RC, but I recall seeing some military vehicle kits, but I was looking for ships so wasn't paying attention to wheeled stuff. I'll find their business card and post it if I do. They are the official Tamiya dealer, so shouyl be able to order anything from the Tamiya range if you're not in a desperate rush.

there is a place in Siam Discovery, normally they have loads of cars in the windows, but am sure if you go in they will have what you are looking for.

It's called Collector's World and you might want to check their opening times because I've rarely seen it open, though I tend to do my shopping early.

This page gives a phone number and email, the second number agrees with that on the SD website.
