-=angel=-
<----- born catholic, but now, only believe in one God. My stay in Thailand had confuse my faith in my religion (maybe because I am weak ). Had tried to study Islam, but the model wasn't good (was an ex US BF, converted Islam, says he devote himself to Allah but had ladies everywhere and a supposed best friend but talks about you behind your back ). So, I decided to stand for myself. I believe in God, yes, no one can take that away but I take no religion.
chanchao
I'm appalled, hurt and feel severely offended that my religion isn't included. Read more, spread the word: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster http://www.venganza.org/ So I voted Bhuddism because it's the only one that doesn't actively deny the existance of His Noodlyness. Also, it's convenient when living in Thailand. (Though the situation is improving now that Tesco stocks Heinz spaghetti sauce at reasonable cost.) Slim Chance
SOMEBODY WROTE: "Believe it or not, there is a Judaeo-Christian sect called 'Jews For Jesus', who say they are Jewish but believe that Christ is the Son of God. Seems to me that they are either Jewish or Christian. The hybrid is theologically unsound." (Sorry but I've yet to figure out how to work the quote feature) To whom I'd like to inform that when the JFJ movement was getting into high gear some 25 years or so ago, a story came out in a US paper or magazine--might have been the Village Voice--revealing that this 'religion' was actually started, promoted and funded by the Catholics. I'm surprised at the high number of Atheists here. That’s a pleasing result.
Fast Eddie
I'm agnostic. The truth is currently beyond our comprehension, and we have no evidence with which to shed any light on the matter. From my perspective i find it difficult to understand why otherwise intelligent people would align themselves with established religions/cults, which in all honesty have just been made up by other people who were searching for answers. There isn't a single credible scrap of evidence to support any of their claims. I understand their use in providing a moral framework and a beneficial philosophy on how to live life, but the blind faith shown in the existence of their definition of god/gods leaves me thinking that there is an awful lot of people who have problems coming to terms with the nature of their existence and mortality, and can't accept not having an answer. Old Croc
I marked the atheist box because my religion "Cargo Cultism" was not listed. "Cargoism" was, and is, a widespread religious movement among natives of the islands of Melanesia in the South Pacific. The theology and practice of the cult centers on the worship of cargo brought to the islands by western troops during the war. In simplest terms, followers of cargoism believe in the imminence of a new age of blessing which, they believe, will be heralded and fulfilled by the arrival of special cargo sent to them by supernatural powers. This belief existed long before the appearance in the Pacific of Western troops. Western sociologists specializing in Melanesian religions say all the cargo cults are based on a curious mixture of native and Christian beliefs and rituals. The cultists believe their deities will send them ready-made goods just like those used by the military forces that came from far away. In their estimation, the goods will come from heaven, thought by some to be in Australia or, alternatively, in the sky immediately above it. Those who hold to the latter view of paradise believe that Heaven is joined to Earth by a ladder, down which ancestral spirits carry the goods, packed in crates addressed to specific individuals. They expect that the precious cargo will come to them by ship, airplane, or truck, depending on where they live. The modern version of Cargoism to which I relate centres around the purchase of lotto tickets with the expectation they will turn into untold riches. mijan24
For me evryone to their own. Several years ago on a course two of the students were Malay Muslim - I became good friends with the older of the two who I will call Assam, they practised their religion as one would expect (and respect) although they also socialised (a little) consequenty I asked Assam how serious were Muslims about their religion and he responded with: I don't think we are any different from anybody else when your young you are inducted by your parents as you grow up you get up to all sorts of pranks but as you age you think about going upstairs and become more attentive. This is not intended to detract from muslims who practice 100% it to me just shows we are all really one and the same when it comes down to brass tacks. A famous man once said "Don't forget we all sit down to sh!t" Whilst on that topic I believe ABC Asia Pacific "Nexus" has a show on this weekend about Farang versu Squat Toilets would be worth sitting up to watch. greenwanderer108
This forum is blasame!!! Repent now children and the Holy Dog...ah come on, Jedi??? Where's Star Trekism? Everyone knows that Star Wars doesn't hold a candle to Star Trek, wether its the original Kirk, Spock, Scotty all the way up to Jonathan Arfcher, Tepal, Flox, etc. and everything in between i.e. next generation, voyager, etc.. Had to go with Scientology or whatever for the Athiesm lost its appeal with the teenage angst after my parents weren't their over my shoulder any more. Athiests started looking a lot like a cult themselves with all the books that were published. I don't need a title. Wouldn't mind being mormon or muslim, but that would just to reep a few benefits, not to find god or anything... As far as organized religion, I think Buddhism has the least contradictions with nature/science, however, I have met very true 'Buddhists'...whatever that might imply. Johpa
Jesus is recognised as an important figure in Judaism and Islam, but use of the term Christ (meaning 'the anointed one') is the difference between them and Christians - Jesus is the name, Christ is the title indicating the Son of God. I may not be too religious, but I am educated enough in the western traditions to know that Judaism does not recognize Jesus in any way or manner as that particular monotheistic persuasion wasa established well before virgin births became popular. And Islam does not see Jesus as being of any particular importance either but does recognize followers of both Christianity and Judaism as being misguided believers in God who may be tolerated upon their paying a tithe to the Caliph or Sultan. As far as beliefws in general it is always well to remind oneself of those days when you believed in the Tooth Fairy. Amen!

It's just on TV, I'm too lazy to copy and paste my messages from Word. Well, you got the point anyway, even if I spelt it wrong. Yeah, I know---the lack of proper spelling and grammar takes away from credibility... Kind of reminds me of those PC situations when some nuddle-pud says 'that's not proper English' or 'that word isn't in the English dictionary' and then me replying 'well, it's a good thing I'm not English'

Gary A
Ours is a small sect called the Church On The Mountain. Myself and a few friends go up there several times a week to look at the natural beauty and to marvel at all God's creatures. Since we are not qualified to handle the body and blood of christ we use Chang Beer with excellent results. Sometimes we even speak in tongues. My wife says I frequently take the form of a snake. She says that I even walk like a snake.

( for the Geographical numpties, Norfolk, England, is about as flat as you can get) Maybe we should join up with GaryA and have a ceremonial sermon on the mount!!!!
