Canvasser's widow asks PM to ensure justice

The widow of the murdered Democrat canvasser yesterday called for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to ensure justice in the police investigation, saying she was positive that he was killed for political reasons.

Nathatai Kruengsai, 21, said she did not trust the police investigation into the shooting death of her husband, Chutidet Suwannakerd, a vote campaigner for Tankhun Jitt-itsara when he was an MP candidate in Don Muang.

Nathatai, who has a five-year-old daughter with Chutidet, said she was the first to reach her husband's body and found him lying face up, so he must have been shot from the front.

Police earlier said he was shot in the back of his head.

Chutidet knew many people and the secrets of many politicians in the constituency, she said, adding that he had revealed the secrets about illegal businesses to Tankhun.

Chutidet was a close aide to a prominent politician but became disillusioned when the politician did not even answer his calls when he faced a political problem. Chutidet later gained popularity when he ran for Bangkok district councillor.

Nathatai disagreed with remarks by Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung that her husband was rubbed out because of a personal conflict. He had no truck business as claimed by police but only a small amulet stall.

"Don't be afraid of bad people. They must not be above the law. I would like to call for justice. If possible I would like to file a complaint to the premier.

"However, I’ll be proud if my husband’s death can eradicate bad people from Don Muang. Our family has only us three. It was too much to attack him before our eyes," she said tearfully.

Her husband's conflict with a military officer had nothing to do with the murder as the dispute was three years ago and they had reconciled, she said.

The officer even offered to help when her husband ran for election.

In a completely unrelated report TVF poster MCA put his case of uncontrollable trots down to a plate of goy dip he'd consumed the night before challenging Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung's assertion that it was caused by a dodgy pint.

"called for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to ensure justice"

Like she does for her brother, or like Chalerm did for his son?

Hope she gets justice, but after reading a newspaper report where it kept on talking about a guy with the name "W" and a guy with the initial "K", it seems that some other cartoon characters might be part of this crime.

On another note she does seem to be older and wiser than 21.

Her husband was a PT canvasser that recently switched employer and now gets murdered.

What the outcome is, I hope it is the truthful one. Whatever the outcome of who did it I hope justice is served.

Its a trait learnt early with educated (life educated also) females regards thai politics.

My thai step daughter (raised through New Zealand schools and with my guidance of equality and justice and about to head to a NZ university) and I discuss thai politics very often. I once said to her that perhaps when she is fully educated she could return to Thailand and enter politics. With all the wisdom of a 17 year old on thai politics " Dad, I don't have the money, the crooks to suport me, and hey I want to live long enough to give you and mum some grand kids". Says it all really.

I know that this is a bit off-topic, but she's 21 and has a 5 year old daughter? So, when she was 15 or 16 and her husband was 32, she got pregnant?

He's lucky that he wasn't shot by his father-in-law 5 years ago!

It's not at all uncommon here, nor that the conception was less than consensual from the females side.
