uptheos
I have an appointment in a couple hours at Elite Smile for a root canal. There is some infection plus I have a history of freezing not always taking and the need of extra injections. Root Canals are a controversial topic (not easy) and must be done right. I would like to get rid of the infection first then do the root canal. Reseach I have done on this indicates that anti-biotics do not always work on infected teeth/nerves so I was going to have a discussion with the dentist about a 2 stage process. 1st to do what he has to to get rid of the infection, then a 2nd appointment to finish the job. I do not mind paying more as this is a tricky job requiring a real professional. I thought I would do some research on the guy doing my root canal, disappointed that he is not listed on their website http://elitesmilecm.com/dentist.html so I googed him (Attapon Saelo) and found out he is a student at CMU "Studying Master Degree in Endodontology CMU" https://www.facebook.com/attapon.saelo which answers the question as to why his appointments do not start until 4PM - he is in school!!! Dr. Joy has been mentioned several times by people here as an excellent pro at root canals. Anyone know where she is working now? I am not going to let a student work on an infected molar for a root canal, just not happening. I just called in and cancelled and told them why, now I have to look around. Other recommended root canal pros would be appreciated, price is not an issue. Thanks! Doug Indeed I do as I have recently had and do have further appointments scheduled with her at Elite Smile, one next Sunday. The last time I actually asked her, she said she works only at Elite Smile Wednesday evenings and Sunday, the rest of the time she works at Nakornping Hospital. Her times could have changed since then of course, but I only schedule for Sunday's and Wednesdays anyway, so I've never bothered to ask her again. Edit: Just seen your post, seems she must have added Thursday evenings. I think you will like her and be INSISTENT on plenty of anaesthesia, she usually obliges. uptheos
thanks, appreciate the input! Doug Quite often it's advisable (not always necessary) after a root canal to have further work i.e. post and crown. If this is advised and you agree, ask for Dr Min to do it as Dr. Joy doesn't. Dr Min owns the clinic and I have found her excellent, extremely patient and liberal with anaesthesia if requested. They might offer you another lady, but once again be insistent on who you want. jaideeguy
I've had two root canal treatments at Grace clinic from their specialist [forget her name] and they were the best I've ever had in terms of no discomfort, confidence of the Dr and thoroughness of the procedure. Her credentials are ....she is a teacher of 'the philosophy of endodontics' at CMU and was a total perfectionist in my mouth with small deft fingers, patience and I felt no pain with the needle or the reaming of my canal..............and she is quite cute. beau thai
About 2-3 months ago I had a series of appointments at Elite Panthip Plaza, following a fight between an old crown and a spare rib. The rib won. So root canal, post new crown etc. Everything explained (in English) very well, including costs-more than I expected to pay in Thailand and about the same as Spain. The endo who did the root canal rushed in about 5pm each visit so maybe the same 'student' mentioned above. He did a very good and thorough job-I asked about painkillers for when the anaesthetic wore off which he said was unnecessary. In Spain they give out a prescription for strong painkillers after the treatment-they are necessary!! Most unpleasant part was the xrays bizarrely - they use an advanced Kodak digital machine which gives a great image but the thing they shove in your mouth is so big it made me gag/retch-each time! Nevertheless happy to recommend them

Yeah, having a petite cute little Dr fondling my canal definitely made it more pleasant and I'm now looking forward to my next treatment.
ThaiHerbs
I just finished the root canal with Dr. Joy at Elite Smile. Everything went perfect. She explained everything, agreed to give me a stronger dose of anaesthetic, 2 needles, almost pain free. The entire process from there was almost comfortable, no pain at all. She is excellent! I go back in 2 weeks to ensure all the infection is gone, then on to post and crown. Thanks for the input here. Doug
