The World'S Biggest Moth.

Wellington

Recommended Posts

This Atlas Moth, seldom seen here ,is generally common in Malaysia and Singapore,

I have only seen one other, four years ago at Kata,

It has "snakes" eyes at each wing tip, believed to be to deter predators.

At any rate it measured 10" across which makes it the World's biggest.and we got the picture as it rested at Loch Palm.

A most beautifully marked creature.

I saw one at night flying through the lights from my balcony. The missus argued and told me it was just a bat. She had to eat her words within a month when she found one in the garden. I have since seen them again but not that frequently in phuket
