I just received an e-mail response from a language school which included the following paragraph:-

" Please take note as well that Thai Immigration is not allowing 50years old and above to have Non

ED-Visa anymore whatever the nationality is, they just changed the policy and we can't do anything about it."

So they discriminate against those under 50 from getting retirement visas and now they discriminate

against those over 50 as not being suitable for learning the Thai language! Amazing Thailand!

Whilst I not in that category my reaction is sod them I will go to Cambodia instead!

Where is this language school located, it might be a policy of local immigration but it doesn't appear a country wide policy.

A visa is obtained from a Thai consulate, not immigration. Extensions of stay are gotten from immigration.

Hi Mario

it was from one of your your sponsors - Walen smile.png

I must say there have been a few posts in this section over the last few months hinting at possible changes

in the education Visa.

Hopefully Walen or perhaps others could comment on this at some point. Interesting turn of events if true and more than one isolated immigration office.

So many language miscommunications with expats living in LOS. Myself included.

You are allowed to study in Thailand on any type of visa or extension and even on a visa-exempt stay.

As I see it, there are in fact advantages to studying on any type of annual extension if you qualify for it:

  1. You don't have the expense of new extensions every 90 days.
  2. You don't have to pay the school fees for one whole year in advance but can take it from month to month.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. — George Bernard Shaw
