Do I Need A Jacket In Chaing Mai Jan 1St Thru 5Th?

Featured Replies

Do I need a jacket in Chaing Mai Jan 1st thru 5th?

From the official weather reports it does not look like it and I am currently in Bangkok where I certainly don't need it but my wife says it will be cold....

Well, I was going to say just carry one of those "silk" scarfs they sell at the Night Bazaar/Walking Market if you go out at night and then I realized you were a guy. If you're the sort of guy who gets cold in an over-airconditioned movie theater or train, then bring whatever you use then. Hubby has a light, single layer jacket.

Remember Chiang Mai is both a city and a big province. If you're going to be outside the city and at a higher elevation, it will be chilly in the mornings. Otherwise, in the city, you'll be just fine.

I'm in CM just now and the weather was great today, so no.

I wont and I have not found the need in the last six years. Then again I have a big comfort zone.

Brilliant.

In the closing minutes of the year, the best post of 2011.

You might need it on the 6th, ( unless it's not cold )

Yes, wear one - we don't want you lowering the tone.

Don't forget a tie too :)

Simply bring one and if it's too hot take it off.

And,if it's cold you will be glad you brought it.

Problem solved.

morning and night is still cold/cooling

weather is getting warming, and you do sweat in the day :)

Hard to know what the OP is asking. A jacket can be a windbreaker, a down-filled parka, a velvet smoking jacket used by a gentleman in his private library, a sport coat or suit top jacket which is rather formal wear........

You are probably already here judging by your post date, but I'll add this.

I like Thailand's reply (#8 above).

Bring it if you think you need it.

If you don't need it, no harm, no foul.

Yes, we have icicles hanging off our noses here in CM.

It is so cold the cows are dispensing ice cream from their teats.

We dream of Nordic bonfires.

The Thai definition of "cold" is uh....seriously suspect.rolleyes.gif

Agreed.

I did not bring or need a jacket.

However, my two small children did bring light jackets and needed it.

Thank you for all the responses!
