I have been having problems with my Gmail. Senders are getting messages that the recipients mail box is full, and I am not receiving their mail. I have cleaned up a lot of my mail and deleted almost everything and am still having problems receiving files and documents, and I am puzzled what to do next. I am not that savvy with technology and would appreciate any and all advice from members who answer me.

You haven't said what system you're using XP windows 7 etc. If you're using Vista you will always get problems with G-mail, missed key strokes screen freezing etc etc. Only way out is to get rid of it and go back to XP.

My experience anyway.

Wow. You must have a shed-load of joke video emails if you've managed to fill a Gmail inbox.

Deleting isnt enough, you have to empty the trash also. And you dont say how you access your Gmail (web interface, POP3, IMAP ?). To be sure that you have really deleted something you have to do it from the web interface. When logged in it tells you how much space you have left. So check all that first.

I agree. OP most likely only moved the mails to the trash, therefore not saving any space yet.

Gmail help section is pretty useful:

especially filtering your mails like this;

To find messages that are larger in size due to attachments, try using advanced search operators such as has:attachment or filename:mov.

If you are downloading/uploading your Gmail via POP/IMAP, logon to your gmail via the web and then look in the lower left hand corner of your email page and see how full your Gmail account is. For example, mine says 7% Full, Using 613Mb of 7665Mb.

The 7665Mb is the maximun amount of email MBs I'm allowed and I have 613Mb in the box/various folders. Now, there is "zero" email in my inbox or Spam box; however, I use POP to automatically download email to my Microsoft Outlook and I have POP setup not to leave a copy in my Gmail box and just to delete it...when the email is deleted it goes into the Gmail Trash folder which I clean out periodically. I use POP since I prefer it over IMAP...that's just me.

Additionally, whenever I sent an email from Outlook via Gmail a copy of the email goes into the Gmail Sent folder. And once again, I clean it out periodically.

I guess I'm just using the Gmail Trash and Sent folders as backup to my Outlook Trash/Deleted and Sent folders. So, although I have zero MBs/zero email in my Gmail Inbox I do have 613Mb worth of emails in my Gmail Trash and Sent boxes. That 613Mb consists of 1,277 Sent emails and 30 days worth of 183 emails in my Trash bin. The Trash bin automatically deletes any Trash email older than 30 days.

Sumary: check you Gmail Mb usage and folders..as mentioned by others above you may have a ton of emails with HUGE attachments in your Trash, Sent, or maybe even Spam folder.

I guess I'm just using
