SOLDIERS IN BURIRAM DEPLOYED TO HELP FARMERS HARVEST RICE IN PADDIES

Soldiers in Buriram have been helping rice farmers harvest their crops, to alleviate the severe shortage of manpower in the fields.

130 soldiers were deployed into rice fields in Ban Huayjorakaemak (บ้านห้วย จรเข้มาก) in Muang district, Buriram province to help farmers lacking manpower to harvest rice.

Hiring prices for mechanical rice harvestors have increased due to the rise in oil price. The rice in the fields are currently at its ripest, and prolonging harvest would result in severe losses. The Army commander responsible for the province thus sent in the soldiers to help with the harvest, and this is believed to help alleviate the labor shortage to an extent.

Chownah has read this. I'd like to see who is benefitting from this....probably rich people's poorer relatives...or maybe I'm being too cynical...Christians could see this as beating swords into plowshares...as long as the soldiers are out in the fields at least they aren't shooting someone...probably. Can you mow down rice with automatic weapons?
