January 4, 201214 yr Large 'ice' bust at bus terminal The Nation Six bags containing 73 kilograms of 'ice' or crystal methamphetamine, worth Bt220 million, were found left unattended at the Bangkok Bus Terminal (New Southern Route) on Borom Ratchonnanee Road, police said yesterday. Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt-General Winai Thongsong told a press conference that, after receiving information a drug gang would transport a large amount of narcotics to the South through the terminal, police spotted the suspicious bags at 7pm Tuesday. They staked out the area until 10.30pm but no one turned up to collect the bags, so they seized them and found the drugs inside. Forensic police had collected fingerprints and DNA evidence from the bags, Winai said, and the initial investigation identified a man and woman as suspects who placed the bags in the terminal. He said that after gathering more evidence, police were confident they would be able to issue arrest warrants soon. -- The Nation 2012-01-05

January 4, 201214 yr Can you imagine what would of happened if you was waiting at the bus station for a bus and you felt like a sit down and you sat on those bags.
January 4, 201214 yr Fortunately the recent cold snap in the weather had stopped the ice melting.........
January 4, 201214 yr UPDATE ! 73 kg's of "Ice" found at bus station. Police believe the 63 kg's of 'ice' was left behind by a forgetful drug dealer. Alzheimer sucks for sure!
January 4, 201214 yr "The bags were spotted at 7 pm and police staked out until 10:30 pm but no one turned up to pick up the bags so the police seized them." I guess the bags were clearly labeled, so these were not your ordinary dealers. There's a movie here.
January 4, 201214 yr Somebody was apparently getting high on their own supply to leave behind that much dope. Sad part is that someone will likely pay dearfully for this screw up. Probably better off getting caught.

Maybe the police were 'clearly labelled' and the dealers spotted them, or the dealers got tipped off, so the police could 'process' the drugs.
January 5, 201214 yr A total of 220 million baht worth of drugs, and someone had to transport them by bus.Only in Thailand.
January 5, 201214 yr The police sealed off all the exits but the culprits escaped through the entrances.
January 5, 201214 yr Doubt bags were forgotten, more like the mule got a whiff of BIB More like a tip or maybe just a bad shipment that they needed to dispose of anyway, so what better way than getting rid of it by helping the hand that keeps business running smoothly? Really...how is it that someone just "forgets" to pick up 73kg of methamphetamine? Needless to say, that for this kind of tips, cops don't send in newbies that can be spotted from a mile away
January 5, 201214 yr Doubt bags were forgotten, more like the mule got a whiff of BIB Clearly a tip off. Do you think cops could actually be involved?
January 5, 201214 yr Author Bt220-mln Crystal Meth Seized at Bus Terminal Narcotics suppression police have seized crystal methamphetamine worth over 220 million baht at Bangkok's southern bus terminal. The drug is found hidden in six bags ready for transport to the South. About 73 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, or commonly known as “Ice”, packed in 72 bundles were seized by officers from the Taling Chan Police Station and the Narcotics Suppression Bureau at the New Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok. The drug was left at the first and sixth platforms of the bus terminal. The seizure came after a tip-off that there would be a large drug smuggling effort from Bangkok to southern provinces during the New Year holidays by using public buses from the southern terminal. Investigations and close minitoring were carried out until last night after the joint local and narcotics suppression police forces found six suspicious and unidentified bags left at the bus terminal. Two suspects, one male and one female, were also caught in the southern bus terminal's security cameras. Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Police Lieutenant General Winai Thongsong revealed that the drug smuggling ring operates in a pattern of 'Ant Army', which applies to a smuggling of drugs in a small amount at a time. The city police chief added that police are speeding up searching for the members of this drug network to bring them to justice. -- Tan Network 2012-01-05
January 5, 201214 yr "Forensic police had collected fingerprints and DNA evidence from the bags" The BiB has this capability? Only at drug scenes apparently, never read about this treatment at murder/suicide crime sites. How big is their fingerprint & DNA database?
January 5, 201214 yr so they seized them and found the drugs inside. The drop-off worked like clockwork then.
January 5, 201214 yr The police sealed off all the exits but the culprits escaped through the entrances. LOL

Yes from 73kg's to now 2kg's, someone on the crooked cop force, (of course we all know they are not) is making a drug haul and profit for themselves, again the old saying "Amazing Thailand "
January 5, 201214 yr Makes me feel like setting up the crooked cops, with another stash, in a small off beat soi, and put them to rest, permanently
January 5, 201214 yr i find all these stories simply unbelievable. a tip off? stake out? 73kg? at a bus station? suspicious sacks? about to be sent south?? by <deleted>' bus?!?!? not on this planet folks..... this can only be total set-up designed to make the cops appear to be doing something about the amphetamine trade (other than running it that is).
January 5, 201214 yr A total of 220 million baht worth of drugs, and someone had to transport them by bus.Only in Thailand. And the last bus to wherever had left and the bags were too heavy to carry. So in normal thai way, they left the bags and went home.
