Govt Urged Not to Reward Red-shirt MPs with Cabinet Posts

The Democrat leader has urged the government not to shuffle the Cabinet according to political quotas and suggested it not reward the two red-shirt MPs with ministerial positions.

Opposition Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva commented on the government's plan to reshuffle the Cabinet, saying he agrees with the move if the reordering would help improve the government's performance.

However, Abhisit added that if the reshuffle is made according to political quotas, the government's work is likely to remain ineffective.

He said the decision rests with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who would have to be able to answer to the public on the reasons behind the reshuffle.

Asked about speculation that two red-shirt MPs, Jatuporn Promphan and Nattawaut Saikua, would be appointed as members of the Cabinet, the Democrat leader said he wanted to urge the government not to reward the two with ministerial positions.

Abhisit also called on the Pheu Thai administration to be open-minded about carrying on with the previous government's policies which are beneficial to the country.

Not sure about adjusting according to political quotas.

The PT has a clear majority they don't need to cater to any other party. To assign a post to a red shirt would just be reassuring their military arm that they are indeed needed and appreciated.

If Jatuporn Promphan and Nattawaut Saikua, get cabinet posts,

why not this weeks Lebanese terrorist threats getting cabinet posts to?

Fairs fair after all, right?

Agree with Abhisit but he's not really the best one to be saying this, having had Kasit as FM.

You beat me to it.

That's the problem with Abhisit, he always claim he has the moral high ground but when he has the chance to be in a position of power, he proves to be no better than anybody else, quite the opposite in fact.

But as always Jurgen, you do a great job of identifying the problems with Abhisit / the Dems, but have little to say when it comes to Yingluck / the PTP.

News this morning from the other paper has indicted Red Shirt Leader and Pheu Thai Party MP Natthawut Saikua is tapped for a Cabinet position. Sources said he's destined to be the next PM's Office Minister when the Cabinet gets reshuffled.

It's also indicated that this reshuffle will happen perhaps this month, but a precise date was not given as Yingluck was still discussing specifics with her brother, Thaksin.

Just to clarify

"a precise date was not given as Yingluck was still discussing specifics with her brother, Thaksin" according to a source,

just in case someone got the idea this statement was a statement of fact.
