I have been told by a few of my Thai friends that there was a terrible accident at a childrends day display somewhere near the airport. Apparently there was a parachute display being put on by the army and one of the chutes didn't open. The guy fell to his death in front of all the spectators. Just wondering if anyone else has heard about this. A terrible accident and my thoughts go to the poor guy's family.

Sounds like a terrible accident. Feel so sorry for his family and for all the kids watching it in what was meant to be a fun show.

Like you said not sure why it was in general news, thought there might be something in chiang mai forum about it.
