I took Lisinopril in the U.S. and was assured by my cardiologist at Bumrungrad and also my cardiologist in Ann Arbor, MI that the Thai generic version called Lispril is indeed OK. I get it at Peera Pharmacy, across from Hotel M (the old Montri Hotel) at Thapae Gate. It's the first pharmacy on the left, a few doors past Black Canyon coffee, as you're walking down the road from Thapae Gate, toward Doi Suthep.

The two ladies who run that pharmacy give very good advice. There have been a few other generic Thai or Indian produced medicines, that they've discouraged me from using, but not the Lispril.

You don't need to go to a doctor to get this medicine, just bring your old prescription bottle to the pharmacy for the ladies to see.

I've been taking Lispril for three years and my blood pressure remains under control just like it did with Lisinopril.

Try Ram and ask to speak to a heart specialist on the 4th floor (I think). I went there as I had an unusually high BP reading. 20 minutes with the doc for 300 baht reassured me.

Yup, that's what I would do, too, if my blood pressure readings at home took a sudden spike. They did that once in the U.S. and it took several visits to the doctor and changing meds and dosage to get it back in control. Normally, I see a cardiologist at Bumrungrad for an annual heart screening (I have a congential problem), but I sure wouldn't want to run down to Bangkok every week to see him if I were trying to adjust my blood pressure medications. The Bumrungrad cardiologist has told me to go to Ram if I ever have a cardiac-related problem in CM at it isn't the sort of problem that will wait until I get to Bangkok.

They should have let you sit quietly somewhere, relax for 20 minutes. Then take it again AND also take it manually as those machines are often way out, before diving in and prescribing medications. Most people's BP spikes due to the travel and then the whole process of being in hospital.

I agree the machines can be some what dubious. I do how ever use them. I drop into the emergency room at the hospital in the Warrort market as uptheos says I sit only for ten minutes then take my pressure. It always comes out OK except the heart rate is high.

You can drop into any emergency room sit quietly wait for a machine to be free and take it yourself for free.

I like uptheos prefer the manual one.

But hay it's free and if you walk there it is good exercise.

Agreed. Also I go to RAM every 3 months for skin cancer check and treatment. Before I leave home my BP is around 140/90, on my machine, and it,the machine, is checked regularly. When they take my BP shortly before me seeing the Dr it invariably reads 180/100 much to the horror of the nurse. After the treatment it returns to almost normal. Its the "white coat fever' syndrome or so called "invisible stress". You should alway be allowed to rest and take the readings from both arms. Regular exercise combined with medication helps top keep it under control.
