Have heard that a number of workers there make more $$ than doctors due to hazards involved. Toxic chemicals have led to a much higher rate of cancer and lther aliments.

Bang Pu Industrial Estate is one of Thailand's older industrial estates. It is a hub for Thailand's leather industry but it has many other factories. It is famous for the appalling levels of pollution it creates.

The people who live near it are low-paid migrant workers who mostly live in dormitories, barrack type buildings or very low cost apartments. The middle class staff, managers, administrators, etc usually live quite a few kms away on or near the Bang Na - Trat Road.

It is near to the Ancient City and the Army Resort. These two are very good if you are interested in birdwatching.

Is there accomodation (hotel) nearby? I have to go there on Tuesday and stay overnight.

Thanks

There is the Three Coins (or 13 Coins, I forget) on Bangna Trat, or the Novotel on the junction of Bangna Trat and Sinikarin.

The Novotel is a fair way from Bang Pu Industrial Estate, could be about 40 minutes drive with all the traffic lights and rush hour traffic (songthaews and workers' buses etc).

There should be something in Pak Nam and there will certainly be motels along Sukhumvit near the Ancient City.
