Ais Blocking Skype Sms Messages?

Featured Replies

SMS messages sent via Skype to AIS Thai mobiles indicate 'Delivered' but in fact none are not delivered at all.

I reported this to Skype who replied: "since AIS Thailand must be filtering these messages please contact with AIS Thailand and ask them not to filter the messsages sent from Skype"

They did not however explain why the 'Delivered' confirmation could happen in this case.

Before contacting AIS - does anybody else have this problem?

I use an AIS Super 3G Dongle.

I just sent myself an SMS though SKYPE and it reached my (AIS) phone ok. The only odd part is that SKYPE has it as "pending."

For me it will work with DTAC but can't get it to work with AIS , and get the same message as the OP, Delivered with both

Sent to True Mobile SMS received ok. Sent to AIS (12call) SMS not received. I know this used to work as I used to send to SMS's GF this way but have not used for 1 year +.

Definitely also experiencing this issue for the last few weeks. I can not receive SMS sent by Skype to a AIS mobile, Skype says "Delivered" but it's not.

Exactly as you said.....skype to AIS said delivered but wasn't. Two sms's last week.

I've had the same problem intermittently for many months. Not all the time, but just enough to make Skype SMS useless for messages into Thailand.

It would seem from the replies that AIS are guilty of doing this.

If so, it certainly flies in the face of business ethics and company integrity, and one wonders why companies like AIS would even want to do this, since the amount of revenue lost through Skype-routed SMS messages must amount to relatively nothing.

Point is - is blocking SMS messages illegal? Does anybody know?

And who would be responsible if, for example, some serious or tragic situation was caused by someone sending an urgent SMS via Skype, confirmed as 'delivered' to the sender, but in fact blocked by the ISP and not in fact delivered at all?

so in reality one should never use skype in thailand for sms considering it would be impossible to know who is with who.

I wonder if skype are aware

I sent a couple of SMS's to AIS phones yesterday and both were received. I checked the SKYPE forum and it other people have the same problem with different countries.

This becomes curiouser and curiouser.

Yesterday I sent a test SMS via Skype to a London mobile number, and asked the recipient to confirm if well received.

Yes, they said in an email - but it was our land line that rang, and a lady's voice dictated the SMS message.

I had never heard of this, and rechecked the number I'd sent it to - correct, it was indeed my friend's mobile. Nothing whatsoever to do with their land line. (And there is no automatic call forwarding set up either to/from the mobile)

This friend called me later on my mobile from the same land line (via NoNoh) and we decided to try this again.

So - I sent another Skype SMS to his mobile whilst we were talking. Nothing received - but when he put the land line down, sure enough it rang, and the same lady's voice read out the second message....

Am I out of touch with technology? And even if so, what is the point of diverting an SMS to a land line voicemail when the recipient might be miles away from the house, or overseas?

Does anybody know of this system?

The feature where British Telecom will dictate the SMS sent to a 01/02 number has been in place for at least 5 year.

It does seem strange that you sent a message to a mobile and it got delivered to a land line. I've never known this to happen unless I'd made some mistake.

You could view/edit the recipient's Skype contact details. It could be that you multiple numbers listed for this contact and skype is mixing them up?

We had some confusion in this area on a recent Skype update that was resolved by firmly setting contact details like so: "John Landline", John Mobile" "John Skype"... Even if you *think* you had set up like this; It's worth checking to make sure Skype or another app not "helped" in merging contacts.

Just read my post: Bloody good job an English Teacher I'm not !
