Is there any place in CR to replace broken front glass of iPhone 4?

3rd party on-site service preferred (since I don't want to have my phone sent over to Apple for the process..).

Can only offer you this. There are a couple of guys at a booth on the ground floor of the Big C. Their business card says "My Live". Replacing touch screens and digitizer pads is what they do. They also have a smaller booth on the second floor of Central Plaza.

Why is it the apple phone screens break so often? My daughter dropped hers on carpet and it broke? One I have back home, same, but at least dropped on cement.

I guess iPhone is actually designed to break. I mean there are lots of cell phones on the market that you can put in your pocket without breaking the vital parts of the phone. Planned obsolescence.

Just a bit more help. Looks like you can order the iPhone 4 digitizer pad from Pantip Market. Price 690 baht.

Google pantipmarket, click 4th down, enter "digitizer" and search. you will see two items. (there's an English menu also - upper right corner)

Just recently read a short article on that IPhone glass. Steve Jobs negotiated with Corning to make a special thinner glass for them, something like 20% thinner. Apparently it makes the touch screen more responsive. So you might have a less responsive touch screen if "standard" glass is used.

Thanks guys! I think I have enough options to sort out this problem. Right now I'm working in my home land where Apple wants around 300 EUR (nearly 400 USD) + one or two weeks for replacing the screen. Actually, I was told that they would send me a refurbished phone so there would also be all the hassle with backups etc.

Anyway, in about a month I'll be back in CR and can happily wait to get the phone serviced there. Unfortunately I don't have time to stop in Bkk.

My phone has been unable to charge for a couple of weeks and pretty much worked out that the adapter and cable are fine and the problem is likely to the phone itself.

Would appreciate any information on where to find the shops to do the repair. Thanks in advance.

It is quite possible others have a go to shop they use for repairs but I would probably go to Central Plaza and ask several of the phone vendors as well as the Apple shop. That would save driving around town looking for individual shops. Plus you can have coffee or lunch while you ponder your options. Chances are they will need to take your phone and send it off somewhere to be repaired.
