A famous notable in the theatrical profession once stated that all actors are merely show offs. Most certainly have inflated ideas of their own importance.

No, can't bothered. I'm not the one who made the assertion he was an "international movie star".

You did bother, otherwise you won't question me earlier. Do answer you, yes, i know he did at least 2 movies outside Thailand not so long ago. He also produced movie.

<deleted> is going on here??? I've never quite understood why some folk are so obsessed with 'famous' people. Why take a picture of a person because he has appeared on a television? What do people do with these pictures? Did this 'famous' chap wai because he was greeting a mainly Thai audience by any chance?

Whilst I'm having a rant about people photographing people/things. I was in a recently opened shopping mall on Sukhumvit 21 recently and witnessed hundreds of people (farang included) taking pictures of the shopping mallcrazy.gif

Don't simply comment or insult anyone if you don't know the person. Ananda appeared in the silver screen and he is an international movie actor, not local or the television.

No he's not. Even if he was an international movie actor, why take a picture of him?wacko.png

Why not ?

Next time remind him he is in a public place and therefore he is fair game for all photographers and he can "wai" all he likes, well in oz, thats the privacy law. What the F--- does wai mean?????????

You live in Thailand and you don't know what 'wai' means? jap.gif

It's a thai greeting derived from the UK geordie 'wai aye'clap2.gif

Sorry about the bad joke but seriously Everingham does'nt sound a very Thai name to me, is it a stage name or is he 'of mixed blood'?

Don't anybody read these thread through his 50% allegedly Australian. rolleyes.gif

Sorry I missed the connection there because the statement was a bit brief - will pay more attention next time. Perhaps if he was called Bruce or something aussie sounding the penny might have dropped. Everingham sounds very British, could play in a Robin Hood movie - The Sheriff of Everingham, The Lord of Everingham Castle, has a good ring to it.

I wouldnt take a picture,i would put it on video dial instead but only because something crazy might happen like someone comes forward and smacks him in the mouth. Then the video might be worth something if this guy is so famous.

Father is Australian, mother in Lao. Born in Thailand and part educated in Australia but has spent the bulk of his life in Thailand.

From all accounts naturalised as a Thai citizen a year or two ago, which was his right under 2008 Thai Citizenship Act ammendments which allows people born to foreigners to apply for citizenship if they were born on Thai soil between 1971 and 1992 and have maintained ongoing links to Thailand, which he has.

John Everingham was a quite well known photographer of the Vietnam war era.

He smuggled his wife (later to be Ananda's mother ) out of Laos in 1977 in dramatic circumstances.

There was a biopic made of the affair, starring Michael Landon, no less (for younger ThaiVisa readers,Michael Landon was big in the Eighties - for him to star in your biopic was quite an honour in those days!).

That's one of the interesting thing about communications. BTW, Michael Landon was never considered big as someone mentioned. He was just a leading actor in one tv series, and a total flop in other tvs or movies. IMDB shows.

He is not the leading man in Bonanza although this series's success landed him into Little House on the Prairie which is really his but the next, Highway to Heaven which he played lead was a flop, that finished off his acting career. Showed that he lacked substance or something. In fact Little House was remembered much for its story, not for him. BTW, he has not won a single acting award.

Ananda is different. He is an actor on the big screen, leading man in over 10 movies and won 2 best actor award.

Then how come nobody has ever heard of him? are these just local Thai movies and awards? I certainly remember watching Michael Landon many years ago. Awards mean naff all.

His target isn't the old farts market I'm guessing. ;)

"Love forever" (or something like that) was the film with Michael Landon but seeing as they (the parents) divorced in the 1990's, apparently it wasn't...

Ananda Everingham was in the original "Shutter" which was a very reasonable Thai Horror Film.

Neither was Michael Landon's, I was a kid when I watched his stuffpassifier.gif

He might not have won awards but he does have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

That is an interesting back story thanks

. You mean if nobody knows him, the moviemakers still use him as leading man ? As I mentioned Michael Landon is in a tv series(which is free to watch) so more people know him then but I am sure not everyone watch tv too. Ananda is not in tv; so not free, obviously not everyone knows him but if you ask those who goes to the cinemas, 99% of Thais know him, 66% of S.E.Asians know him, 33% of world cinema audience know kim. Like him or not is another matter.
