Accident Mun River: 8-Year-Old Girl Drowns as Heroic Boy, 7, Saves Grandmother

A boat capsized in the middle of the Mun River in Buriram province, leading to the death of an 8-year-old girl and a dramatic rescue that saw a 7-year-old boy hailed as a hero for saving his 58-year-old grandmother. The incident occurred near Ban Pla Khao, in Mueang Phutthaisong district, when four individuals were attempting to cross the river in a small wooden boat. The vessel capsized unexpectedly, plunging all occupants into the water. One of the children, Thanaphat, known as “Phupha”, aged 7, showed remarkable presence of mind. He managed to climb onto the back of the 18-year-old rower, the only one among the group who could swim, and together they reached the riverbank. The boy then extended a wooden stick to his struggling grandmother, enabling her to grab hold and be pulled to safety. The victim, an 8-year-old girl named “Fren”, a P2 student, had been sitting toward the rear of the boat when it overturned. She vanished beneath the water’s surface, sparking a desperate search. Emergency responders and local villagers scoured the area for over an hour before recovering her lifeless body, to the anguished cries of her mother and grandfather. According to Ladda, the girl’s mother, the family had gone to nearby rice fields to forage for red ant eggs. Her daughter had been left under the care of an aunt near the trees while others ventured out. Moments later, the aunt returned in panic, reporting that the child had fallen into the river. Eighteen-year-old Setthakit, who was steering the boat, told police that he had spotted the vessel abandoned by the riverside and decided to take it for a short ride across the river. The two children had asked to join, and an older relative, 58-year-old Pian, also boarded out of concern for their safety. Setthakit warned the children not to play in the boat, but his caution came too late. As the boat reached the middle of the river on the return journey, it capsized. Setthakit managed to rescue only the 7-year-old boy, who later ran to the village for help. Pian, the grandmother who cannot swim, recalled the terror of slowly sinking. “I swalloed several gulps of water and thought I was going to die,” she said. “Then I heard my grandson shouting and saw a stick extended toward me. When I grabbed it and looked up, it was my 7-year-old grandson pulling me to shore.” Local police are investigating the incident, while community members have praised the bravery and quick thinking of young Phupha, whose actions undoubtedly saved a life. What exactly is a "facist"?
Same as over use of the terms "Leftist", "Socialist", "Communist", "Far Right" "Hard Right", "Marxist". "Liberal". Too many isms lose impact. Its possible that the US President does not possess any sort of political ideology; he flip flops continuously. He might fit various definitions of being a fascist, but might not actually subscribe to the ideology. At least John Kelly attempted to define the term when ascribing it to the man. Kelly described a fascist as: That's a man who paid attention when attending the National War College. An expert of the ideology agreed that the President is unlikely to be sophisticated enough to be a fascist: https://www.vice.com/en/article/we-asked-a-fascism-expert-if-donald-trump-is-a-fascist-124/ Some argue that while fascism and popuism do share many features, fascism is a form of dictatorship while populism functions within the boundaries of democracy. But populism can turn into something that more definitively fascism. Some observers believe he moved closer to fascism after January 2020, showing increasing distaste for the levers of democracy. Others are less convinced. seeing how he equally praises communist and fascist dictators. inviting the suggestion that whatever 'ism he holds, it might be new and unique. First time around, he was enjoined in cabinet by individuals generally holding high reputation; they likely agreed with his objectives but disagreed with the method, and hence were dubbed the "Adults in the Room". That all fell apart when he pushed back against people who didn't share his methodologies. Second time around, the people he has surrounded himself with like his methodologies, but not his objectives, because ultimately, besides the banal MAGA slogan, which is amibguous and really doesn't mean anything, he doesn't really have any objectives. So they are taking advantage of his methodologies to further their objectives (the heritage 2025 mob). These objectives are not conservative in nature. They are revolutionary. This whole nonsense about a "reset" is quite close to Pol Pot's Year Zero in some ways (arguably, Pol Pot was never a Maoist; his methods genuinely horrified the Chinese). They seem content to destroy parts of American society in order to further their oobjectivs of a reset. I'm not sure the 47th President is wholly convinced, hence his recent turn arounds. Who does he identify with in American society? he doesn't identify with the farmer; he has zero experience of farming culture. He was brought up entirely in a city, and like most city dwellers, scarcely thinks about where his food comes from. He doesn't identify with the working class man, because he's never been there, being born with a silver spoon. Sure, he knows what to say, because that's acting, and it helps the ratings to create a persona. And you know, given all the cameos, from those early appearances on The Jeffersons and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, he's received acting coaching. What you see is not the real man, but a pastiche perfected on The Apprentice. He might admire, from a distance, the Tech Bros, but probably doesn't understand a thing they say but wishes he could. He identifies with business. He is probably wuite well acquainted with the realities of a supply chain, understanding why his MAGA hats, ties, and sneakers came from China. He knows full well the watches weren't American made, but were Chinese. When a business person goes on TV and explains reshoring is all very well, but he doesn't have the $400k for tooling for the CMO that might or might not exist, and the tooling has to come from overseas anyhow, and even if he had all that, its takes 3-6 months to set up, and by then, the business has gone; the American leader likely understands that, and may even identify with it (or comes close to identifying with it) He doesn't believe in the rule of law, because from his perspective, the law have been an embuggerance in business. Its not a disagreement born of revolutionary zeal, but basically ignorance. Those controlling him do understand it, which is evidenced by the numerous, on the fsce of it, small things happening. Where it all falls apart for them is Him; hs love of Ratings, or being liked. Plus he can fire them. And he will, like last time, ultimately doing a half arsed job. -

Crime Brawl Between Monks Over Funeral Invitation Ends in Bloodshed & Expulsion from Temple
Picture courtesy of Amarin Two monks at Wat Nantharam in Pak Phanang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, have been expelled following a violent altercation involving punches and a metal rod, which left one monk needing eight stitches to the head and the other with extensive bruising. The incident occurred on 24 April in front of the abbot’s residence, where 70-year-old Phra Khiew and 60-year-old Phra Somboon, both resident monks, engaged in a heated dispute. According to temple abbot Phra Maha Phinyou, or Phra Khru Pariyat Wutthitada, the confrontation was triggered by a disagreement over accepting a funeral chanting invitation. Witnesses say Phra Khiew initially struck Phra Somboon in the abdomen and torso with a metal bar approximately one foot long. Phra Somboon then managed to wrestle the weapon away and struck Phra Khiew on the head three to four times, causing two open wounds and profuse bleeding. Rescue teams from Pak Phanang municipality and local police were called to the scene. Both monks were taken to Pak Phanang Hospital, where Phra Khiew received eight stitches to the head and Phra Somboon was treated for multiple bruises. After being discharged, both monks filed complaints against one another at Pak Phanang Police Station, each accusing the other of assault. The police recorded the incident and will summon both parties for further questioning. Phra Somboon later explained that the dispute erupted when Phra Khiew aggressively invited him to attend a funeral chanting session, using offensive language and insulting Phra Somboon’s parents. He claimed that he was struck first and acted in self-defence. Phra Khiew admitted to speaking harshly, saying he had to raise his voice because Phra Somboon is hard of hearing, but denied instigating the violence. He too has filed a complaint with the local police. Following the incident, the abbot summoned both monks and officially expelled them from the monastery. Phra Somboon has since left, although it is unknown which temple he has moved to. Phra Khiew has requested 10 days to gather his belongings before relocating to another temple.
