Barty
My girlfriend suffers from migraine headaches. She has had them for many years and has been using the same medication for the last 8 - 9 years. Her doctor has never changed her prescription. After looking around online I have noticed that some of the latest drugs are helping a lot of people. I would like her to visit another doctor that specializes in migraines in the hope that she may get new drugs that have a better effect than what she is using now. Could anyone suggest a doctor for her to visit? Thanks in advance. Barty
johnh101
I tried all the drugs in the world, had brain scans and everything and the docs could never stop them. Then I went to a Chinese Acupuncturist who fitted the needles up to a 12v electic pulse current . Two sessions and I reckon i've had only 1 migraine in 10 years. Thanks in advance. Barty For a doc, check out the websites of Samitivej, Bangkok General and Bunrungrad for a neurologist with spercialty in migraine. Assuming she had a proper work-up when the headaches started and that the diagnosis is not in doubt, you could also just try the newer drugs first..I'm pretty sure they are available without prescription in larger pharmacies with licensed pharmacists on duty. Sumatriptan between 25 - 100mg by mouth OR 20mg via nasal; spray (faster) taken as soon as an attack starts. Last thought -- in many women the HAs are worse pre-,enstrually. Ask her if this is so; iof she doesn't know have her keep a journal to see. For migraines that occur only or mostly in the 10 days before period (or first day of period), natural progesterone is very effective. Progestogel ointment available at the pharmacy in Villa suopermarket, or utrogestan capsules available in several pharmacies in Bangkok including a large one of south side of Sukhumvit between Soi 2 and the expressway overpass. This is only worth trying if there is an association timewise, but may make all the difference if it is. For some people this alone is enough. Good luck

Should we assume that life expectancy figures for China reflect the benefits of ancient medical techniques? nope, reflects the fact that most of the population smoke like a chimney and air quality in the cities is dreadful...plus rural health care system seems to have collapsed with economic privatization. Traditional medicine innocent. If you have ever had the misfortune to take a long train ride in winter (when of necessity windows are closed) in China you'll know what I mean by the first item...36 hours cooped up with smoke so thick I could hardly see followed by the " air" in Beijing took I think a least a decade off the likely useful life of my lungs.... h90
my wife took very heavy painkiller for migrane, they worked a little bit, but not very good and knocked her off (at least she sleep). Than in Austria a friend of mine is pharmazeut (not sure for the english), gave her tablets. Result: heavy headache, half dead, 1 tablet and feeling like new born..... If you want I can try to check the name and the chemical inside sure either the same product or a different with the same substances are available here (for money everything is available here) My girlfriend suffers from migraine headaches.
