nong38 Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Hey up folks, Fred's back from Sin City, hope you had a good one! It would appear that you are not too keen on living up there in Kippers as you have just got back from Blighty and now from Patts and I suppose soon you will be visiting our Fair city to use our Imm Office as you don't have one, and I predict that when our Fine city gets our HS train station you will be coming down here to use that!!! All cos Kippers don't have owt!!! Spoken like a true Yorkshireman, are you from Cudworth or Grimethorpe?
nong38 Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 With all this talk of High Speed Railways racing through the metropolis I almost forgot to tell you about the High Speed Line that is already up and running here! Its in my spare bedroom! This last 5 months, 3 engine sheds have been built and 24 points electrified ahead of schedule to complement the 10 patform station, (Nakhon Sawan) Victoria. We also have Trent Bridge Junction and Trafalgar traction maintenance Depot and not a Thai workman used or in sight! Today 100mph locomtives from the English Electric works have been running, Deltic 55007 "Pinza" and Warship class 50 "Formidable" have been running with no problems reported. The new year will see steam return to Nakhon Sawan in the shape of "Duke of Gloucester", "United Staes Line", "Bideford", "King George V",A4 "Guillemot" along with an HST set. Book now for the best prices and Fred does not have the Buffet franchise so no rip off prices!

fredob43 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Yeah Fred, I have to agree with you that K.P.P. doesn't have pot holes. Try going down the Kanu road towards the sugar cane processing place, they are more like bloody craters than pot holes!!! Anyway I thought you drove a tank, so shouldn't have a prob with a few pot holes on our ring road!!! Sorry for the late reply. Right Kanu road I think your referring to the 1084 a back road running south on the eastern side of the river ping. I don't know how long it's been since you have travelled that road but I went down it some 30+ km a few week ago on a fishing trip, and glad to report it's ok no pot hole or 'craters' with lot's of it having been resurfaced. Right the roads in N/S. Thailand's answer to Birmingham's Spaghetti junction. I put in my remarks for the unlucky peeps that have to travel through same, not the locals as they will already know about the pore shape of thing's there. Another point I have missed out lately. This is for the peeps that will have to go via the town on to Pitso using the 117. If you think you have got away with missing the bypass not forgetting the other 30 odd km after on the 1. Your going to cop it as well, last time H/M went that way the road was as bad, does improve the nearer you get to Pitso though. My Tank so called by Build is I have to report not a real one just an RV just a thought maybe you can set up a park and ride at the K.P.P. border. My I suggest you use a real Sherman that at least might get through ok. You should Bill be sorting out your Noodle stall, not buggering about with smoking trains don't you think N/S has enough smoke already. N/B H/M has an upper class chum that come's from up north of Blighty after several years I can now speak some of the lingo. His Thai wife says All reet 'alright' and calls everyone Booddy. If anyone wants a translator down there I'm willing to travel. But I do charge. H/M. Fred. Edited December 1, 2014 by fredob43
nong38 Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 A planned trip to that Mecca of the Masses BIG C is on the cards for thursday, so will check out the Yamazcki bakers and see if they are back action. For those of you who use the Amhur Office next to the Shell Garage in the City be advised that a replacement is about to be built opposite the Provincial Court on the north side of the Tak Road. If you heading out of town on the Tak Road you will pass a Shell Garage, about 100 yards past it is a left turn, take it after 200 yards a set of traffic lights, carry on ( only if the lights are green- unless you are Thai ) the Provincial Court is the big white building on the left after about 250 yards, the new Aphur Office will be roughly opposite, the site is ready for contruction, so sometime next year maybe.

SP opposite does some decent bread and you can buy a discount for 200 bhts and gets 10% off every purchase. But I cant wait for Yamazcki to open again. Looks much bigger than there old place. Hope they change the name of there English Croque Monsiuer though. haha Edited December 2, 2014 by bim

I could see at the back of the shop they have a bake house so it looks like all will be baked on site! My guesstimate would be that it will be open by weekend! (but I could be wrong!!!) Edit. As Friday is a public holiday and Big C will be heaving so could be a good target day to open!!! Edited December 3, 2014 by davyboy

nong38 Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Yamazaki is next door to Aunntie Annes's and opens tomorrow, 5th December. I was in a small cafe the other day talking to old chap sitting on a crate of Chang, he could speak a smattering of English although Manchester Utd and Whiskey were the main theme! He told of a time in the past somewhere between 1960 and 1990 ( could not be more precise ) when a big concert was held at the N/S football stadium, the start was non other than Frank Sinartra ( not to be confused with Franc Shinawatra a one man band from up north) and Count Basie big band, all ver hush hush and for GII's out of Vietnam, it was here that the famous song "Nak Wan" was written, in Thai naturally. It was lost in translation on th way home and ended up as "New York" next time you are in a Karaoke bar, try substituting the New York with Nak Wan and see what I mean.

H/M thinks it's a very appropriate song for N/S. Contains word's like it's a Hell-uva town. Hit's the button spot on Hell that is. Talking of appropriate the reopening of Kamikaze the only thing to look forward to allegedly in N/S must brighten all your soles. Happy bank holiday to you all, try not to get stuck in fumie Big C car park whilst you visit the shop or you might just end up wanting to commit same. I don't know about you lot but in K.P.P today it's a trite overcast, dash pore show for a Holiday weekend. H/M. Fred.
wayned Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 It's about to turn black every night in the "boonies" where I live. The sugar cane plants opened on Monday and the migrant camps are cleaned and ready for the occupation to take place on Sunday and Monday and the burning has already started. It'll be burnt every night until the cane is finished being harvested just before Songkran. This time of year, the color of money is "black"! My wife's nephew is an assistant manager at Yamazaki and she couldn't find out when it would reopen. Did it really open today?

So the burning is just about to start thank Buddha we don't get to much of it here. We do get a day or two near the end of January with the odd bit of black rain so the locals call it. Hopefully we will miss out this year but I doubt it. Cant your beast work in the cane fields just think of what your missing out on cash wise, not forgetting less black rubbish. H/M. Fred.
wayned Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Unfortunately the beast is only suited for corn and beans. It's cousin cuts sugar cane. I actually looked at importing one, but most of the farmers still prefer to have it cut by hand. There are a couple around but hardly ever used. I think that it's because of the pricing structure as it;s by weight and they think that they loose money if it's mechanically harvested and I certainly don't have enough to justify bring one in. We get the best price if it is harvested without burning but it's harder work, costs more to harvest and the "critters" are still in the field. Many won't even harvest it if it isn't burnt because of the "critters".

I might have a new job for Mrs H/M as a critter eradicator. I'll try and get a local farmer alas not to many round here, to give her a try. Just a photo put's the fear of Buddha up most things just think what real life would be able to accomplish. Update as and when. News. My bedroom smells of Jasmine today it's all down to Mrs H/M and daughter bringing me garlands of same this morning something to do allegedly with Fathers day, or it might be as I suspect can we have a few Bob/BT. What ever we are going out for dinner tonight, I will more than likely be paying as normal, but anything beats Mrs H/M cooking exploits that she offered to make as an alternative. Ah Chicken feet in all their glory rings a bell, all be it they can be delish not on Fathers day. H/M. Fred. 1

If so, I'll call in tomorrow as I transit the Heavenly City. Otherwise I'll need to visit MEGA and replenish freezer stocks beforehand. Yours is the most convenient nowadays as I can make an early start. I ujsed to use Yamazaki at Phitsonulok Central but that did close, never to return. Jerry
fredob43 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Yamazaki is indeed now open.I know I'm more than likely the only person that doesn't know, but what does Yamazaki sell. I shall be down to do a visa thing in late January so if it's interesting I will give it a look see. H/M. Fred.

rott Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 If anyone is going to NS and desiring fish and chips, pie and chips (peas and gravy optional) full breakfast etc or excellent Thai food, I have it on good authority that the farang pub -- the confuZion bar is now open 11.00 a.m. till 11.00 p.m seven days a week. Aircon, cheapish ale (by NS standards). Near gate 11 Sawan Park, more or less opposite The Walk on the opposite side. Frozen chips mind, but i never said they were perfect. 1

I hardly ever go at weekends so its always closed when im down. I will go for sure. Ive been twice and love the food. A bit further down from the walk there looks to be a coffee place thats serves sandwiches called Merceys Coffee so will try that also.
Ace of Pop Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Nice info from those who can understand Thai Visa Rules. When i lived there 20 Years ago,one was lucky to find Farmhouse White Bread, yet alone a nice pie, no Supers at all. 1

The first left has two roads. Take that turn and instead of going left where the other entrance to the walk is and bon bon club is go straight up. I normally come in from the north and at the clock tower with BigC on my right and turn right there to go up to Immigration. If I were to turn left at the BigC lights I would get onto Sawanvithee road going away from Immigration. I am trying to follow your directions on Google Earth. Nah it still doesn't work for me for some reason. Sorry
