Wifes friend who wants her son to study in UK shew us his PP tonight, it only had the small stamp on the last page,

eg,Bangkok UK 14Feb 2012,and a written 6 figure number above it, there was no large page visa.

I checked my wifes PP, it has the same, and a full page Visa with the 6 fig written above it,

Have UKBA forgotten to put the visa in, or has it been refused? there was no other paperwork when the PP was returned, [that i know of]

Normally that stamp, with no visa, would indicate a refusal. But there should be a refusal notice (GV51). If there is definitely no refusal notice, then I would contact VFS or the Embassy direct to find out what happened to the visa.
