For the past few months I have noticed that all over Thailand, from CM to Patty, the cigarettes have vanished from their display cases behind the counters at 7-11 and FamilyMart.

Months later the empty cabinets remain, wasting valuable wall space while the cashier produces a box of cigs from a drawer beneath the till.

What gives?

The government's anti-smoking campaign though they have back peddled somewhat due to complaints. Search the forum, there's a thread talking about it.

In the 7-Elevens and Family Marts that I shop at, the ciggies are still there in the displays... just hidden behind little cardboard screens.
