First of all I want to explain myself and these are what I am: Indonesia, was born in thailand on 1978, I can speak, read, & write thai, i left thai on 1996 until end 0f last year for study, now I live in thai, my visa is non-immigrant re-entry visa category O, my parents work in Indonesian embassy in bangkok.

My question are:

1.should I have the work permit?

2.what should i do to have work permit?

3. can I have a certification of alien registration, how and where?

4. what accupation that i can't do

5. If i work for foreiner company (like HSBC, Garuda airline, unilever) should i have work permit?

6. can i have the work permit before i got a job?

Hello Sari,

If you work in Thailand, it is always good to have a work permit, although it's possible to do without as well. There are occupations that you can't work in, some are reserved only for Thai nationalities, I think the labour ministry will give you a full list of possible jobs. If you get a job with a foreign company, they'll help you to get a permit. You can't have the permit before you have a job.

If you were born in Thailand, you should have a Thai birth certificate? If you have this, there is a long number on it. That is you personal id number. With this, you should be able to apply for an ID card. Once you have your ID card, you are effectivly are Thai, and thus can work legally here and get a Thai passport. So the question arises, why don't you know this?
