SHELL SAYS GENERAL PUBLIC HAS RESPONDED WELL IN USING ALTERNATIVE FUEL

The Executive Vice President of the Retail Marketing Department of SHELL (Thailand) Plc, Mr. SUPHAN SUDHISARN (สุพรรณ สุทธิสาร), said the company is able to sell 24 million liters of gasohol per month. Last month, SHELL has sold 21 million liters of alternative fuel. He said the rise of consumption has indicated that the motorists are responding well towards to the government policy in promoting alternative fuel.

He said that SHELL does not encounter the problem of insufficient supply of ethanol, which is a resource to produce gasohol. He stated that the company will expand the number of stations with gasohol from 480 to 600 locations by the end of this year.

When will they start informing people that it also has negative impact on fuel consumption and engine maintanance.

You ask any expert and they will say that your engine will lose power. To make up for the power you will have a much higher fuel consumption which results in less milage on a full tank. Allthough you might pay less to fill up your car, you loose at the end. Plus at the Volvo garage they do say that its safe to use but they do prefer that you use the normal stuff. (They told me that some models injection systems cant deal with the alcohol mixture and that the injectors need to be replaced)

Further have I read many articles on gasohol and all experts are syaing the same. You dont save, you loose.

Is it saving baht or knowing that your lowering your impact on the environment

Dunno, but both reasons are are fallacy.

Gasohol will increase your fuel costs and there is a big argument that it uses more energy to produce the alcohol than it is saving.
