Red Shirts To Mark 2nd Anniversary Of Protests

So, Rubl, I've given you a few days to think it over, any chance of a response, or dare I say it, an apology?

This can be interpreted as a baiting question, dear John.

You wrote "They're arguing about the post coup AEC case proposals now even though they haven't been decided". In other words, wait till it's decided and loose the opportunity to participate and collaborate in what others want to decide or formulate.

No need to respond, this subject can be considered closed.

Uncle rubl

No it is not closed - you call me dishonest, you'd better have a good reason - and you haven't.

I patiently went through the reasons on why my two "versions" of the phrase were the same. You seemingly have chosen to ignore the explanation and you are still making the same error.

Can we agree that you cannot argue about "something" until you know what that "something" is. Here is what I wrote.

"They're arguing about the post coup AEC case proposals now even though they haven't been decided".

You have mistaken "decided" in this case as being agreed, voted on or whatever..

No, that is wrong, decided means clearly defined or pinned down and formulate means express in precise form in other words the same thing.

Once you have fully decided or formulated what something is, then and only then can you argue/discuss it and hopefully eventually decide upon it as being the end result.

Honesty is an important quality to me and I'm not going to have you trying to belittle it.

I withdraw this part

"BTW I may have been wrong before, not about the fool, but about the 'honest' part."

and apologise for having made the suggestion.

The actual discussion where this particular titbit came up is (still) under review

Surely the first step to reconciliation would be to stop all red shirt and yellow shirt activity, would it not?

No the first step is to bring Big T home and give him his money back, the real reason the redshirts were protesting in the first place.

Maybe I get free papayasalad again. I was there everyday passing by to walk into Lumpini Park comming out of the Silom MRT station.

I went to the gym a lot in the park (open air). While they wer taking over the square/monument. They wer friendly and gave me free papaya salad.

Slowly trucks where parked to block intersections and they build defenses of tires and bamboo.

When the first bom on Silom shut down this station i had to walk from the Lumpini station but then i knew it was time to stop going to this park where i got back on my feet ( in life ).

The free papay salad and nam plau turned into a little war... 90 where killed? I don't think so. It was more.

I lived in Huay Khwang that time and that was no problem, just waiting for my new normal life to come back because i was new in BKK.

Anti-red shirt group stages rally in Phuket

Political confrontation looms in Phuket as an anti-red shirt group of locals yesterday rallied to oppose the red-shirt rally in Talang District's Hat Nai Yang.

Pisarn Hattakarn, the leader of the group, led 200 locals carrying placards taunting the red-shirt movement with messages such as "We love the King the most", "No red shirts in Tambon Kudaeng" and "We want peace and not divisions".

He said his group had decided to stage the rally in response to the red shirts' plan to organise a rally in the local area by setting up tents and stages.

He said his group had stopped the red shirts from organising the event and told them to remove all their equipment out of the local area.

Chamlong Limpradit, one of Pisarn's followers, said he did not want to see divisions in his town and did not want to see any political colours, only peace.

Suchart Petcharat, a leader of the red shirts, said his group would go ahead with its plan to hold the rally focused on the anti-drug campaign and would be attended by leaders Thida Tawornset, Jatuporn Prompan, Weng Tojirakarn and Kokaew Pikulthong.

He insisted that the activity would be held today from 3pm at the beach outside Rojjarin Seafood restaurant. He expected some 2,000 people to attend the rally.

"The rally is not about setting up a red-shirt village but we want to know what is wrong about setting up a red-shirt village. The rally is an anti-drug and political campaign rolled in one. We have the constitutional right to express our opinion,'' he said.

He said he would try to prevent clashes and that some streets would be off limits because of the rally.

Democrat Party deputy leader Thaworn Senneam challenged the red-shirt leader to contest elections in the South. He said the red-shirt plan to set up red-shirt villages in the South would cause divisions in the region. He added that whenever the red shirts took to the stage, they just slammed Privy Council Chief General Prem Tinsulanonda without grounds.

He said he was worried about the possibility of political conflict in Phuket as the red shirts were insisting on holding the rally despite local opposition.

It didn't take long.

It's clearly a conspiracy.

Nice troll on your part. Truly - just BS.

Some readers here appreciate NN's balanced firsthand accounts as well as the fact that he is willing to share his knowledge of the events and associated facts. And some readers also do not appreciate seeing someone who is honest and dedicated in his profession being denigrated by others who have often never even bothered to read his books.

Apologies about that. I'll ask Google to pull those results.

I don't think I'll waste any money on his books, but I have read all his publicly available offerings, including his account of coming under fire from the army while accompanying red shirts running into a petrol station (doesn't sound anywhere near as dramatic with all that emotional context stripped out). I even attempted to make a few comments about that story on the New Mandela website, but they never seen the light of day for one reason or another.

If you or anybody else takes exception to this post, it can be reported to the moderators by means of the "Report" link featured below.

Yes, I suppose a guy having his guts ripped apart by an army bullet and later dying is fairly mundane stuff. Doctor.....

Can't imagine why your posts on New Mandala "never seen the light of day" (:D).

It must be highlighted that ultimate responsibility of all deaths, injuries and destruction from the 2010 riots lies with Thaksin, as he is the one who planned it together with a group of generals that included major general Khattiya Sawasdipol. See the article Rogue generals on Thaksin's payroll cry for final showdown which predicted the mayhem months in advance.

Correct, and we saw all of the video feeds with Thaksin egging it on, and making his promises of returning on his high and mighty horse. We all knew it was coming. A lot of the locals predicted it, along with the fortune tellers...it didn't take a genius to know. And it's too easy to see who was responsible, though all participants need punished. At least Khattiya got his.

I can't agree that Sae Daeng was the Supreme Commander; the real one stayed well away. Nice shot of him, though not as good as the last one.

Yes, you're right. Sorry. It was Chavalit that was appointed Supreme Commander of the People's Army. Sae Daeng was the Commander of the Ronin Warriors Division.
