Not being an international financier, I'm a little puzzled regarding the procedure for renewal of UK passports when I pay for a draft in Hong Kong dollars to the Consular- General of the British Embassy in Hong Kong from Bangkok.

How will he or she relate that to the passport application I must send? Will there be a receipt from the bankers draft that I should include in the passport application or will the bankers draft automatically refer the Consular- General to my passport application?

I'd be grateful for the response from any Uk passport holder who has gone down this route the last few months.

A Bank Draft is also known as a Bank Cheque and as a Cashiers Check (US).

It is given to you by the bank and you send it with your application.

Thank you everyone for your helpful advice, I found a convenient spot in Bangkok to complete the process- Silom road, the HQ of Bangkok Bank are very familiar with international bank drafts and from there it's a mere minute's walk to the United building, ground floor to the DHL office to send the application. The postage cost around 600 bah,t whilst the passport renewal was over 7,500 baht it I remember rightly.
