No Qualifications And Alcoholic -does That Matter?

Featured Replies

Well I'll be honest , I have no qualifications but am fairly good at English and have a bit of teaching experience.

I hear it's easy to get work in TL so I'm coming over. I'll admit I like a drink and am no saint either.

Does that matter and is it really that easy to get work?

I hear all you need is a white face and a bit of willling - must beat working in a call centre back home . I'm currently on the dole in England but have enough saved up to make it to Bangkok.

Any advice , like how much cash do you reckon I need and does it matter that I'm not a serious teacher?

thanks..... :o

I will leave this to get the responses it deserves.

In my opinion, if you aren't qualified, and what seems to also have no experience, then you are wasting your time and particularly your students time.

well I've met a fair few people back home who have done some teaching in Bangkok without qualifications and they said it was easy.

I do have some experience of teaching and this was gained easily in South America - no qualifications but I did lie on my c.v which I intend to do again in Thailand.

From what I hear at least 50% of the schools never check you certificates anyway - as regards to wasting the students time I do not agree as I have an A level in English thus I know I am competent with my own language. I can also speak Spanish thus have good language awareness etc..

any advice from non-preachers , judges would be welcome.

dont think judges eould have that much advice, except to probably not lie on your CV.

I'm sure you will fit in well with most of the other unqualified teachers in thailand. :o

Could we have a troll icon added to the list please?

If he's as ambitious in Thailand as he is at home I imagine we'll be seeing him begging around the BTS stations soon. There no free ride on the dole in Thailand.

Funny enough... although the poster hasn't come to Thailand yet, he's going to considerable expense to dial into a Thai ISP before posting. Dole must pay well.

What say everyone? Troll removal time? :o

The Royal Order of the Boot sounds good  :o

Well if he really is a drunken, <deleted> spilling, can't teach for toffee's wanna be, don't come to Surin . ................................................................................

ok , I admit I am actually in Thailand .

I am starting to look for work now in Bangkok.

I do have a Tefl certificate and about 18 months genuine experience - just wanted to see the lie of the land as such for someone who may not be considered to be 100% qualified to teach their own language - whatever that may mean.

My issue is that I'm not a serious teacher and am only in Thailand for the ladies, booze , puff and fun - just want to teach to support myself.

Is there anything wrong in that ?

I know the Thais don't give two hoots about their education so why should I ?

only in Thailand for the ladies, booze , puff and fun

Just out of interest, how did you choose your nick ?

Mr. Goodness and Simon 6973 should touch bases, have a pow-wow, chew the fat;

so to speak :o .

so don't tell me all you lot are serious professional Tefl teachers - come on that must be the biggest joke in thailand - doing Tefl here is just a means to an end.

If you think otherwise then you'd have moved on a long time ago.

Teach and have bit of fun but you can't take it too seriously otherwise you'll just end up another bitter old burnout.

Tefl in Thailand + serious profession = delusion.

however ,

income + pussy + beer + puff + fun = the real Tefl teacher in Thailand.

like me - you should heed my advice as you know that I am right. :o

                        income + pussy + beer + puff + fun  = ********** in Thailand.

Insert the jobs- Engineer, IT nerd, banker, consultant, doctor, lawyer, scientist, NGO spanker, real estate broker, money massager analyst- in place of TEFL teacher and you will notice that they are all after the same things in Thailand. They just make more money. :o

There are always plenty of English teaching jobs in Thailand. Trouble is, that if you come here with a carefree attitude, then you ain't gonna land one of the better teaching jobs. All that will be available to you, will be offers to work at a shithole of a school in the middle of nowhere, with earnings of 25000 baht a month for 30 contact hours a week.

Trust me, you won't enjoy that. :o

As a teacher you should be setting your pupils a good example.

Pussy+beer+puff are not good examples

Well to be honest, I am fairly good in drinking and have also a lot of experiences in drinking.

But my english is very poor.

Would that qualify me as english teacher, or is there a demand on drinking teacher.

--Don't think I don't take the previous posting not serious--

I know the Thais don't give two hoots about their education so why should I ?

Perhaps you could inform "the Thais" about this, since I am not sure they know that they "don't give two hoots". I guess they send their daughters to English classes so they'll meet some gentleman who's after some pussy and will have a beer and puff with them. :D Why else would anyone send their children to school? :D

Start by telling your potential employer first, schools and their directors don't give a toss about education either (who wants to learn anything anyway?). They'd be happy to have a white guy with beer breath pose in front of the class and throw some money your way, it's just the way it is, plain and simple. :o

Oh my goodness, Mr. Goodness. For goodness' sake, drink a good sake, and go vomit your brains out on the subway in Tokyo.
