Just out of curiosity do the red shirts make enough money to go to Lao and Cambodia to just get a chance to look at a man.

Why should they not ???

Probably many red shirts have more money and assets than many of the posters here.

And if they do not, what's it got to do with you ??

Please forgive my friend the dolly, he doesn't know.

Red-shirts fight against poverty out of altruism, Pheu Thai as means to make more money and the Democrats out of principle. One may be excused to be somewhat confused about this wai.gif

What did I write underneath the link? What did I write in the post directly above the one you are both commenting on?

I know the link is blocked, there are ways to get to it, hence my comment 'how you get there is up to you'.

I am not interested in looking for things that counter Boyce's opinions. I was searching for wikileaks 'leaks' concerning the US Ambassadors opinions of Thaksin. They don't need to be countered do they, I wanted to see his opinions.

In the post that I replied to you gave a link, if you knew it was blocked what is the point of posting it. How am I supposed to infer from the comment "how you get there is up to you" that it is blocked? It could be accessible using methods we are not allowed to use in Thailand for example.

If you're looking for the us ambassadors opinion of thaksin you would be better served to look at all of the cables regarding the pair of them. Some of the us ambassadors other cables contradict what he says in that particular cable. However if as you say you just want to look at a one dimensional take on thaksin you'll be happy, heaven forbid you might want to dig further.

Mbwahaaaaaaaa! crying.gifcrying.gif well maybe you could have realised if the site was blocked that the comment was there for a reason. I was not encouraging you to use any methods, that is absolutely down to you.

However if as you say you just want to look at a one dimensional take on thaksin you'll be happy

"If as I say" ? Did I say that ?

By God your in a fighting mood! Do you suffer from road rage as well? I think the question eludes to the fact that most of the farmers are poor, therefore just to pay the entry fee in to Laos could set them back 2 days wages, so in all honesty its a fair call. And if indeed it does cost them too much (as does going to Bangkok where they are all paid to go), then would the situation arise where Thaksin pays people to come and adore him at his own party? A bit sad really isn't it! "Get me 10 000 people to come and cheer me and I will pay them 300 baht a day!", then I am sure he could get a good crowd to leave home and go and stroke his ego during sonkhran. Calm down!

So, they accept that Thaksin is guilty, they're just pissed that he was singled out.

Posted with Thaivisa App http://apps.thaivisa.com

I am pretty sure that is exactly how he sees it. And I don't think it is entirely unfair to say that they have all been at it for donkeys years.

Doesn't make the issue any different that he was caught and found guilty, however, I think we can pretty much guarantee that he has so much ammunition on so many protagonists who are still involved that they really have little option but to find a way to get him back. He could probably bring quite a few very important people down if they don't do what he wants.

And to think that the coup leader is leading the reconciliation. One really has to wonder why??????

Exactly my thoughts for a long time, he has the low down on too many people, from the very top downwards. One reason he has never been seriously pursued it that he could take too many public figures with him if cornered.

Which means when he does push it too far, and gets taken down, he will be gone,

but the secret files will bring down others. Of course those that do finally act will have l

ess to lose than most or none and could care less if others fall too, as long as he is gone.

Then then dominos begin to fall. Might be a good cleaning house, but unintentionally.

Some secrets are open secrets, anyone outside Thailand who knows where to look can find out much about the top people in Thailand.

Forget wikileaks, try the Burmese university archives, the Dutch underground press, even New Mandala and the Economist, or do Google searches on key words like pyramid schemes, blue diamond,

Thaksin can come to Thailand any time he wants. Who is going to arrest him?

The next day, he could walk right up to the Justice ministry and fire every person there. Who's going to stop him?

The following day, he could walk up to his sister, and tell her he's now ready to sit in the PM's chair. Is she going to say no?

Sure, it's undemocratic, but so is nearly everything else the man has done in the past decade.

Cambodian and Laotian authorities aren't going to face any heat this time - from the Thai gov't - for allowing Red Shirt rallies in their countries. Reason is obvious: the current Thai gov't sees T as their guru who can do no wrong. However, Cambodian and Laotian authorities could face heat when another (anti-Thaksin) Thai administration comes to power in the future. Then Thailand's neighbors should not be surprised if Thailand hosts rallies which forment divisiveness for Laotian and Cambodian well being.

Well here is a juicy little starter.

http://thaipolitical...sional-thaksin/

How you get there is up to you.

It may be juicy but have you read anything that counters Boyces "opinions". It is out there but you need to read more than just this account of tea with thaksin. By the way your link is blocked. Its easy to find the relevant cables with just a google search if you wanted to.

No it's not I just read it.

I could see Thaksin was delusional under the pressure back then.

Usually Kwanchai arranges buses, with food and expenses thrown in, for northern Issan red shirts to attend a concert or riot, but he might not be keen to arrange a pilgrimage to Laos as his dear leader gave him a very public dressing down 3 days ago

It must be awful to suffer from unrequited love, but I guess money helps the jilted.

"Jatuporn said Thaksin will be in Vientiane on April 12-to-13 to meet his red supporters from Udon Thani and Nong Khai."

From Udon Thani and Nong Khai?....the preparations currently being made elsewhere - busses and vans - in addition to those locations, will create a traffic jam at the border like never before, and an economic boom for Nong Khai all the way to Vientiane. If anyone has ideas of going to Vientiane at that time...Fohget it.

Lao authorities are either dumb or naive, to allow a Red shirt rally in their capital city. Or perhaps they're simply well-compensated by Mr. Deep Pockets, plus all the soda pop and snacks that will be sold to Issanites who attend. Hope they have a lot of attendants on-hand to clean up the mess left afterwards. Every time there's a gathering of people here in my northern Thai town, it takes about 40 people 3 to 5 full days to gather up most of the trash that's tossed. I say 'most', because clean-up crews don't get to work until 2 days after the event, and by that time, much of trash has been blown for miles in all directions.

Not just Laos, but a Thaksin Red Shirt rally scheduled in Pnom Phen also. Can't wait until Thailand hosts hot-head rallies by Cambodian and Laotian fugitives. Let the fireworks begin.

All they have to do is look at the mess the red shirts left in Bangkok after they tried to burn it down to see what their future will be with the red shirts.

And @ midday on the 15th all borders should be shut by the military. Problem solved no more reds!

Except most of them live here................

You are their guest, as it were.

Yes I see why this country is so clean cause they respect it so much.

I respect their Father and this country more than many here. I didn't burn down any shopping centres or close down a city for months for me to sleep in the street nor do I leave my rubbish behind when I leave and have the others clean up after me.. etc..

Yes I have been a guest for 8 years, they are guests also cause they don't own this country dad does.

I can't see "Tens of Thousands" welcoming Thaksin in Laos, unless of course he pays, for his usual Rent a Mob.

The rest of the 500,000 must be going to the redshirt rally in BKK

He's never had 500,000 Redshirt Supporters,at any gathering,or demonstration, anywhere,at any time,all myth,talked up by his Leutenants.

Yes, but the Red Shirt sees him like "Messias".

I see him as Anti-Christ.

"Jatuporn said Thaksin will be in Vientiane on April 12-to-13 to meet his red supporters from Udon Thani and Nong Khai".

One can denigrate the political phenomenon of the Red Shirts, and follow the opinions of the political minority who are disadvantaged by Thaksin, which made the last election painful for them, but their political force cannot be denied. The gathering at Vientiane noted above, is now reaching well beyond Nong Khai and Udon Thani. Locals organizing transportation are being overwhelmed with demand.

It has been calculated that bussing to Nong Khai, acquisition of border paperwork at City Hall, transportation from the border to Vientiane, and then everything in reverse for the return, will cost 800.00 baht per person. There is no shortage of those prepared to ante up 800.00 Baht. If this is happening elsewhere, one can imagine the conditions at that border bottleneck the day of.

Discredited-By-Thaksin-Yet-Still-A-Fervent-Thaksinite-And-Convicted-Red-Shirt-Leader-Out-On-Appellate-Bail Kwanchai said he would personally pay the way for any of his We-Love-Udon-And-We-Will-Bash-Anyone-We-Do-Not-Like Gang that can not afford the trip on their own.

I think he will get 500-1000 and top up the numbers by renting a crowd of locals, who will be much cheaper. Either that or fork out 10 Mill baht for a crowd of 10 000. Not much for a wealthy meglomaniac to stroke his ego. There is a need to 'denigrate' this particular political 'phenomenon' of the red shirts. It is communism, and it aims to destroy the fabric of this society. All those who assist or aide and abet be it for financial gain or the promise of position will be accessories to the forthcoming bloodbath.

Thaksin pays very well and he can be a great asset.

Great play on words - was that intentional? (asset minus et = ass)

There are thousands of 'hang out all day at the mom & pop shop' Issanaites who would love to put a lean on Thaksin's ass-ets. .....and while Thaksin is rolling along the buffalo trail towards Land of Smile, he might want to avoid casting too many pearls before swine. While riding on the horns of a dilemma, he may inadvertedly jump from the frying pan in to the fire, while calling the kettle black.
