Re-Entry Permits

Featured Replies

If you have a retirement "O" visa with "multiple entry" stamp, do you need to obtain a re-entry permit before leaving LOS? Or does the "multiple" take the place of it?

As long as the multi entry visa is valid, you do not need to get a re-entry permit. You will get 90 days permission to stay when re-entering Thailand

Let's move this over to the Visa forum.

Topic Moved.

Do you have an 90-day O visa that's still valid or have did you extend the visa (within Thailand) for 12-months due to retirement? If the former, no problem, don't need a re-entry permit, if the latter, then yes you need a re-entry permit.

Or, is it an 12-month, multi-entry O-A visa (issued in your home country)? If so, then no need for re-entry permit.

I had an Ed-visa, used it, hit 50, and this is now an extension based on retirement obtained a year ago, as of 4/11, in Thailand. It's about to expire, but I've always understood that if I reenter before the final 90 days (one year point) that another 90 days would be granted, effectively making it last 15 months.

You can not leave on an extension of stay for retirement without a re-entry permit and that only allows return to original permitted to stay date. You have confused the multi entry non immigrant O visa issued by a Consulate and allowing 90 day stays which on last entry before it expires you can return for a new 90 day stay.

What you need to do is extend for another year using the same financials as last year or depart prior to the 4/12 expiration date.

Sorry but the OP has explained that he has a Multi Entry stamp so not an extension in my view.

OP as per the post from Loong.

He clearly said he had an extension of stay.

now an extension based on retirement

Okay, thanks. I'm following you. Looking at the stamp, it simply says (under category) NON-IMM, so it does not say "O".

Now, when I left Thailand, I asked about if I needed re-entry permit. The guy looks at the visa stamp, says "no, you have multi-entry."

So when I fly back in to BKK tonight, I'm going to have a problem, yes?

Any suggestions?

The OP seems confused - post 1 talks about Multi.

another post talks about something else.

Question to the OP you stated you got this in Thailand, have you ever done a 90day report as well, as it seems you do not know what you have?????

Under entries does it say "S" or "M"?

Now you seem to say you have a Visa and not an Extension.

Visa - obtained outside of Thailand

Extension - obtained within Thailand.

Suggest you find out what you have first.

Where did you get what you have and what did you pay? If you paid 1,900 baht for a normal extension of stay and also paid 3,800 baht for a multi re-entry permit you use that re-entry permit number to return.

Sorry, the mistake was in the original post where I said it was an "O". That's wht I used to have. Now I see this one only says, "NON-IMM".

I obtained the extension in Thailand, based on retirement, and paid extra for the multi-entry. Yes, I have reported every 90 days. It expires on the 12th of April (one year point). Immigration officer said since it was multi, that I did NOT have to get a re-entry permit if I left Thailand.

As said above you use that re-entry permit to return - just write that number in the visa area and check that they stamp you for your current permitted to stay date (and get a new extension soon).

that is correct, however your Extension runs out on 4/12 as you said, this is also when the re-entry permit (Multiple) also expire.

You can leave Thailand but must return before the extension runs out, also on the arrival card put the number stated on the Re-entry permit and put the arrival card on this page so they see it.
