March 27, 201214 yr My original non-immigrant visa was “O” for marriage and I am approaching the end of my latest annual extension of stay based on work. i.e my job in Bangkok terminates on June 30th so I believe my extension of stay and work permit will also expire then. I am married to a Thai so can I get a 60 day extension just before my current extension expires? My next job with a new employer in Bangkok commences on September 1st. So, will I have to leave Thailand to get a new non-imm O (marriage) or B to start the whole process again or is there any way of obtaining a work extension of stay and new work permit during my 60 day spouse extension? I don’t have 400k for a yearly marriage extension of stay. Thanks, Guru
March 27, 201214 yr I would exit June 30 and obtain a new non immigrant O visa entry allowing 90 days and time to get paperwork together for another work extension after new job starts.
March 27, 201214 yr Without the 800k I dont think he qualifies for the Non-O based on marriage right? So like you say he will need to leave but could only get a Non-B correct?
March 27, 201214 yr 800k has nothing to do with marriage - that is 400k - but that is for extension of stay. He can easily obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa with marriage certificate/copy of wife id and home register.
March 28, 201214 yr Author Cheers for that. Do you have any recommendations for embassies in the region that will issue a stress free single entry non-imm O without having to show finances? I see that Singapore want to see 400K in the bank for a non-imm O for marriage http://www.thaiembassy.sg/consular-visa-matters/visa-requirements/non-immigrant-visa-o-thai-spouse and Kuala Lumpur want to see 100K http://www.mfa.go.th/web/1387.php?&id=2882
March 28, 201214 yr Kl will issue a single without showing money, as will all consulates in the region. The 100,000 baht is for a multiple. Savanakhet (Laos) will issue a multiple without showing money in the bank.
March 28, 201214 yr Slightly confused on this one. If your "O" extension is based on 400,000 in the bank etc. why would it be cancelled when you stop work. Any work permit I have had I handed back on the last day of work and carried on on my "O" extension until I found another job. No-one else got me the "O" extension, I did it, so, why should I lose it when giving back a work poermit ?
March 28, 201214 yr He said his extension was based on work and he did not have 400k in bank to change to Thai wife extension in original post. my latest annual extension of stay based on work.
March 28, 201214 yr His original non-O was based on marriage, but his current extension is based on employement. If he was on an extension of stay based on marriage it woud indeed remain valid.
March 28, 201214 yr I really only wanted to clear that point with some back up as I have been told by a few people that the company rep had told them they must cancel the visa with the WP. Many companies still argue the point on WP can only be issued on a "B" and as such the "B" will be cancelled as it is sponsored by the company. Cheers
