Guitar Teacher 300 Baht/Hour (To Teach Me)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to hire a guitar teacher to teach me. I can play some basic guitar and want to add to that. Should be four lessons week 300 baht an hour. Lessons would probably be one hour on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (although am flexible on that). May do more lessons later. If you also teach voice that would be great too. Please email me first if possible rather than telephoning.

May be you already know that there are a few good lessons available on youtube also.

Sawasdee Khrup, Khun ThaiVisa999,

May I make a suggestion, I hope without offending you ?

I would first clarify what style of guitar playing, and/or singing, I wished to pursue, and whether on nylon-string, or steel-string, guitar, with a pick, or finger-style, or with bottle-slide for blues, etc. And I'd think about ... if you are not writing original material ... what genre of songs you wish to accompany or play to while singing.

Then I'd search in the local music scene for a club where you heard a guitarist playing in that style, genre, you are interested in, and ask them about a teacher. For classical guitar I'd search out Khun Manoon at the Yamaha Center, now teaching, I believe at the one on the road to Hang Dong.

There is a (very kind and funny) Thai man who calls himself "Khun Lennon," who runs a school of music, but, unfortunately I've lost touch with him. He speaks excellent English.

There is a famous jazz guitar teacher, graduate of the prestigious Berklee School in the US, out on the road to Wat U Mong, who, I understand many of the young Thai rock-and-rollers go to ... to get beyond the boom-chukca-chucka and power-chord stage. Google is your friend ? :

I'd try to focus my search, and think about how many lessons I need per week, and how much I can afford, in the context of being informed about what resources are out there relevant to my goals in terms of music style.

good luck, ~o:37;
