"With time. the PM has steered a steady course winning the hearts and minds of the population" #27^

That is true, but even more impressive to me, has been the retention of her political support base. The centrist path she chose, mollifying, emasculating and avoiding 'the mud' with significant and powerful elements of the opposition, while retaining that support, seemed impossible to me. But she continues to do it.

Blimey!........ I would agree that Yingluck has done her best but even for calgaryll this is fulsome praise indeed.

I'm just wondering how it will be in 2015 with all the member states of the ASEAN community.

Isn't it all about traveling within these countries without a visa? Here's my idea:

1.Malaysia will send their best terrorists to become a Buddhist monk for 2 days at Soi Cowboy in Bangkok.

2. Cambodia's Khao Pha Wihan temple will become an educational World Class Standard hub for Shinawatras.

3. Laos has to supply all of them with baguettes, their currency Kip will be used by all members.

4. Vietnam will produce real hot dogs for all, as there's no pork inside. Kosher food for all.

5. Myanmar will be the center of Anti terrorist logistics.

6. The Philippines come up with its highly qualified teachers for all members. Tagalog will be the first language for all.

7. Brunei delivers oil for all tanks and other Army vehicles, the Sultan will sell his harems to Pattaya/Chonburi.

8. Indonesia's Bali will be the recreation center for holy Dchihaads who need a break from killing themselves.

9. Singaporeans have to keep all countries clean and tidy.

10. Thailand will create rain, or snow if needed, using tablets made in China.Water will be pulled and pushed by speed boats to avoid floods

.World Class Standard hubs for almost everything will be invented.

They'll furthermore built nuclear Somtham bombs, using fermented fish to keep peace.

Yingluck, Thaksin's clone and clown will be the spokesman for all of them.....jap.gif

"To create political stability, the party proposes building a strong democracy by allowing freedom of expression and free media, including creating an anti-corruption network and calling for transparency in state projects".

Considering his Coup association and R'song baggage, I just cannot envison a 'pathway for his return' to political leadership outside his own narrow political base or via "special arrangements". He embodies 'political instability', so hard to see how he would achieve the opposite. I still see the 'flip flops' with his and Suthep's face on them, being used extensively. Hard to rise from that level politically. For these reasons, I don't understand why the Democrats don't take a page from Western Democracies and go through a Leadership contest, culminating in a Convention. There must be politically untainted, brighter lights in that Party who might shine, going through such a process....To me that is a no-brainer.

no brainer

Not just this one but all of your posts are.

This wantabe looser is still trying to be a player. Something hes not and never will be.

You are right, he is far too honest to be a Thai politician.

Surely you can't actually mean that. He's as corrupt as anyone in the government. He did nothing while in office except help himself and his fello Bangkokans and hi-so's.

Don't recall seeing you out in the street trying to get the terrorists out.

"The Democrat plan focuses only on winning elections but they have not touched on political morality and ethics

As if the PTP even knows the definition of political morality and ethics much less has any. Her party is the epitome of moral decay.

Really? Decay goes hand in hand with weakness, deterioration and collapse. The PTP has been growing in strength, solidifying gains and attracting new supporters. It is how they won the past election. As the economy recovers and Thailand probably gets through flood season with minimal damage this year, you will see a surge in support. The PTP faced a rough start inheriting a weak economy and getting hit with the floods. With time. the PM has steered a steady course winning the hearts and minds of the population.

You are starting to get down to calgaryll level

They did not win the election they got more seats in the house. The majority of the people did not want them.

If the economy is recovering how come my foreign money is worth more now?

minimal damage from the flood. Where you sleeping or some thing the damage was increased for most of the areas hit by the flood with the exception of Bangkok The only ones to enjoy the efforts of the governments effort to avoid the flooding that they in part were responsible for by emptying dams..

You have been here long enough to know that the heart and minds of all there red shirt supporters has been bought and paid for with money and promises like being rich in six months. Every child will have a pad they never mentioned improving the teachers ability to teach and getting electricity in to 2,000 schools. The cheapest job's will be paid 300 baht a month. And the rice farmer will get 20,000 baht a ton. And let us not forget the credit cards to people who always paid cash now with their credit card they can pay for the same product plus interest.

Well I do admit that last one might have won some of them over at least until they realize their fuel now cost more per liter. Given their education that might take a long time many westerners with a far better education still haven't figured that one out yet.

Her job is to provide the lipstick on the pig.

Darn I had forgot that.

But you forgot she can cry and smile as well as dress in nice clothing.

I have never thought about the prime Minister needing some one to make them up like in the movies. I wonder if she has some one to do that for her.

This wantabe looser .......

So logically if abhisit wants to lose that must mean he is a winner??

Never thought of it that way, so logically yes. But he's still a looser.

Obviously Ralph.... he is not the only one...

Well said, as the Democrat party is full of losers, losers that lost office when the electorate booted them from office.

Jeez. When you win more seats in a parliamentary system, you win the election. That's how it works.

I wrote this year's flood season as in 2012, not last year's. If the flood damage is minimal this year, it is to be expected the incumbent government will benefit.

BTW the credit card system is part f the move to a "cashless society" around the developed world. In your homeland of the USA, welfare receipients in some states receive similar cards with a fixed amount on them. The cards allow expenditures to be tracked. It's hard to buy crack with such a card.

It's 300 baht per day, not month. Still wondering when the rest of Thailand will implement this measure, which looks good to me and comes late. I think that's the only good thing this government has done (still we can discuss if this was the proper timing).
