Non-O Single Entry And Re-Entry Permit

Featured Replies

I'm sure the answer is already somewhere but its hard to find..

Anyway..

I am about to go to Laos, Suvennakhet to get a Non-O Single Entry visa for 2,000 baht

After the first 90 days, Can I get a re-entry permit? to leave and re-enter Thailand gainning another 90 days?

for a total of 6 months and costing 2,000 b (Visa) + 1,000 b (Re-entry Permit) = 3,000 baht

I only need to stay in Thailand for about 5 more months, then I plan to leave for a few years, so I'm just trying to figure out a cheap and easy way to get threw these next few months.

Thanks

a re-entry permit is only valid for the period of your visa or extension.

It does not gain you anytime, you need to get a new visa.

A Non Immigrant O based on what?

The re-entry permit is of no use to you.

You don't say based on what you obtain a single non-O. if based on marriage, in Savanakhet they will issue a multiple non-O for 5,000 baht. Than you will get a new 90 days if you re-enter Thailand.

Alternatively, if based on mariage you can get a 60 day extension from immigration for 1,900 if you show up with your wife and proof of marriage, her ID card and household registration.

Sorry, Based on Marriage...

I am planning to go to my agency tomorrow to cancel my work permit, and then go straight to Laos, Savannakhet to get either single or multiple entry non-o...

I prefer to get the single entry because cheaper, but will get multiple entry if I must...

Alternatively, I was going to attempt to get 400,000 baht into my bank account a few weeks after I get the new visa... then around the 3rd month before it expires I was gonna try to get extension based on marriage.. I just wanted a backup plan, in case I can’t get the extension based on marriage. (Like getting a re-entry permit to gain another 90 days by border crossing)

I thought this specific visa is valid for 1 year... but if its single entry, you can only enter Thailand 1 time and after 90 days it’s finished because you can only enter 1 time... I was just assuming if you got a re-entry permit then you could leave and re-enter again for a new 90 days... since the visa is actually valid for 1 year?

After I posted this message I read this on your website

Re-entry Permit

If you have an Single entry visa, extension of stay or Permanent Residence and would like to travel outside of Thailand for a short period then an re-entry permit will be needed.

Please tell me again if I am right or wrong..

Thanks

Does this mean that if I get the Non-O (Single or Multiple entry?) I can stay for the 90 days.. then ask for a 60 day extension? total 5 months?

I think I understand after reading again about the Re-Entry Permit

If I get a single entry Non-O visa.. and an extension based on marriage for 1 year.. I have to then get a Re-Entry permit to leave and come back again?

If I get a multiple entry Non-O visa.. and an exntension based on marriage for 1 year.. I do not need a re-entry permit to leave the country and come back.

Also, If I did not get the Ext based on marriage for 1 year then...

single entry - leave the country after 90 days, get a new visa if I want to enter again..

multiple entry - simply border cross every 90 days..

I just thought I read somewhere that you could turn a single entry Non-O marriage visa into a multiple entry visa by getting a multiple entry permit? (If this is the case I would get the multiple entry visa to start but, I only want to gain 60-90 more days to total 5-6 months)

Correct.

You could also ask now for a 60 day extension based on your wife, than apply for a new single non-O visa for 90 days abroad and then again ask for a 60 day extension.

If you get an extension of stay, you need the re-entry permit to keep the permission to stay alive, having a single or multiple visa.

The diffreence is that if you are on an extension of stay AND your multiple non-O visa is still valid when you return, you lose the 1 year extension of stay without a re-entry permit but would still get 90 days because of your valid visa.

Thanks very much, knowledge about this 60 day extension is very helpful..

If I get this 60 day extension.. And say the same day i put 400,000 baht into my bank, and left it in there for the full 60 days.. Could I then get the 1 year extension based on marriage?

60 day extension -> 1 year extension ?

Yes, that should be possible.
