for those of you unsure whether to venture out over Songkran we’d like to invite you to join us at The Olde Bell on Loi Kroh Rd. Tomorrow, Friday, or on Saturday or Sunday. We’ve got buckets and water pistols and of course lashings of cold beer. We’ve also got towels for you to dry off with afterwards!

Tomorrow, Friday 13th, we’ve got a BBQ in the evening. We’ve got Steak and Chicken, Sausages and Burgers, Fish and Seafood, Potato Salad, Coleslaw and more. The cost is just 150 Baht or you can include 2 large bottles of Archa or Cheers or 2 pints of Chang for 250 baht!! we’ll be starting the BBQ around 7.30pm. So you can still come along even if you’re not venturing out until the water stops,

The traffic around the moat doesn’t get too bad in the mornings until about 11am, so head down to Loi Kroh Rd on Saturday 14th and deposit your vehicle in the relative safety of our car park (50 Baht for the day) then hit The Bell for a bit of breakfast before taking in the madness of the moat area for a while. Then in the afternoon, pop back here and enjoy a dreaded Karaoke provided by our cashier Mint’s Dad. He’ll be cranking up his jukebox around midday and going on until the football starts at 6.30pm. There are English and Thai songs available and even if you loath Karaoke, you can enjoy a few beers whilst your Thai partner enjoys a warble!

Bring a dry set of clothes in a waterproof bag and in the evening join us for a Thai food buffet priced at just 100 Baht. This will start around 7.30pm.

To go with your day we have top day of sport for you to enjoy with Super 15’s Rugby Union and Aussie Rules taking centre stage in the daytime and an F.A. Cup semi final and Premiership programme in the evening. Our full menu will be available as well as the Thai buffet.

On Sunday 15th we will be serving Sunday Lunch as usual, and we’ve got plenty of towels if you get a soaking on the way here! We’ve got Roast Lamb, Roast Beef, Roast Pork or Roast Chicken, If you prefer to venture out in the evening we’ll keep Sunday Lunch going until 9pm or so and there’s a decent programme of sport for you to enjoy.

Anyway, we hope to see you during the weekends fun (!)

Yes, sounds awesome!!

Here is a suggestion to get there without getting stuck on the moat, for those going in the afternoon. You especially don't want to be passing Thapae gate, which means you need a creative way to get into Loi Kroh as it's one-way coming from the moat.

http://g.co/maps/dwvqz (Or, using slightly wider sois: http://g.co/maps/8uaew )

(Coming from Chang Klan Road; from any points North you probably also want to go around and end up on Chang Klan coming from Aom Muang Road.)

Again this only applies during the afternoon; mornings and evenings a more traditional route will be okay.

Thanks for that Winnie! We use that route regularly to avoid the Thapae area, but it's difficult to explain to others. your map is pretty clear!

Happy Songkran!!
