Wow, people throwing water over each other, how exciting is that? I am sure nobody on TV has ever seen it before! Anymore fascinating pictures?

A lot of supporters waited to greet her with at the ceremony and many gave her roses along the way.

Yingluck said she was very happy to join the northern celebration of Songkran and was happy to see a lot of people turning up to join the celebration to preserve the good northern tradition.

Later, Yingluck and her sister, Yaowapha Wongsawat, visited the people at the San Kampaeng Market.

Yingluck then visited her home district of San Kampaeng to pay respect to her deceased ancestors at the Rong Tham Samakkhit Temple. Again, many red-shirts waited to cheer and greet the prime minister at the temple.

Agree. So exciting. Happy New Year. Now go pay respect to family somewhere. Go donate to a worthy charity. Better way to celebrate Songkran. Stay safe.

Leave the water thowing and squirting to the young kids.

That can't be Songkran, not a single topless female in sight!

Is it just a coiincidence, but why in those thumbnails are there so many young going-too-fat farang pooying in the pictures?

Ha Ha Ha.

Maybe they were the majority of the water throwers? And throwing water over open tuktuks as well.

That can't be Songkran, not a single topless female in sight!

I was going to ask, where are all the near naked ladies...? What fun is that...? Please be safe ...all.intheclub.gifdrunk.gif

I can think of something I would like to throw on her.

OH, NO! It can't be! Everyone in the pictures looks like they are having fun.

As opposed to the readers of this posting, sitting at home grumbling about getting wet should they dare venture forth into the Songkran. How dare them happy people make us farang into grump butts with all their water fighting. Those Thais! and farang Thai-wannabees!

grumble...grumble...grumble...

agree Songkran looks fun bur it is not the case everywhere. Come to Pattaya and see if it's fun when someone squirts water out of long blue plastic tubes with enough force to knock you over or off a motorbike.!

By the look of those pics it doesnt seem to be as busy as i remember it.

That's because it wasn't the official Songkran opening day which is today. EXIF data from the photos - Photo taken 2012:04:12 15:53:35 - yesterday. Suspect there is a huge difference today.

I found this rather enjoyable by just looking at the girls

Nice pics!! Little heavy on the Farang in the pictures.. for today/tomorrow I would venture a bit away from the Thapae area and get some more locals in the shots.

She looks dry, quick, get the buckets of water, no not them ones, the ones with the ice.

It's said somewhere in cm108 that about half of the crowd at Tapae gates are Farangs

Little heavy on the Farang in the pictures..

I really don't know why so many people go out of their way to criticize everything in Thailand and have the temerity to call it home? Thai people seem to have the canny knack of enjoying themselves even in the face of huge adversity and yet a lot of farang just sit and grumble like 'old gits'. For those in this category, please just do everyone a favour and go back home to their 'perfect' countries.

Thanks for that Caibiao. Admire any photographer who can catch a decent Songkran pic, especially when you risk having your equipment wrecked.

Hope you get some more.

Happy Songkran! :D

Can Phuket join to the party? Here are some pictures from Phuket Town and Chalong. I hope I managed to catch the feeling at least partly http://aopor.com/news/songkran-waterfestival-2012
