ThailandDenmark417
What are the requirements to obtain the purple driver's license that are valid for five years? Thanks, Emil
snowflake
First you have to get a 1 year license- then when you get that renewed- it will be a 5 year license... happy songkhran...
ThailandDenmark417
My one-year expires in September this year, but then I've heard that you need a non-inmigrant visa type to get the purple five-year. Is that true, or? It's not a problem for me, I'm asking on the behalf of my family who always travel in tourist visa's. Happy Songkran to you too

ThailandDenmark417
So, while on a tourist visa, is it possible to get it, when you've had the one-year for a year?

moe666
I guess if you can get a certificate of residence from either immigration or your embassy you maybe able to get licenses with a tourist visa
TPI
I guess if you can get a certificate of residence from either immigration or your embassy you maybe able to get licenses with a tourist visa I have to agree, if you have a 1 year then it's only a matter of sighed photocopies of your passport and the residential letter from Immigration, if you're on a Tourist visa you may have to have the home owner vouch for you at immigration? TerryLH
I think one of the requirements is a non immigrant visa/extension. I know that's the case, and enforced here in KKC. And yes, there will always be people with stories of exceptions.
