Where To Buy Bottles Of Opi Nail Color In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hi Ladies! Normally I hang out on the Chiang Mai forum, but Hubby and I are are coming to Bangkok for 10 days in early May. He's off to a convention but I'll have time to see all the sights in Bangkok. So far, Central World, Siam Paragon, Emporium, etc are on my list. We're staying in lower Suk. and I'll have to rely on BTS/MRT for transport.

Recently, I've gotten into visiting a nail salon weekly and found it best to bring my own polish, so I can do minor repairs at home between salon visits. So far, the best I've been able to find in Chiang Mai is Revlon, which is OK. Some of the salons use China Glaze or even OPI, but I suspect their OPI may be from China or watered down with thinner because it sometimes bubbles. I'd like to buy bottles of genuine OPI or China Glaze and be able to see the colors, not just order them over the internet. Any recommendations?

I don't have nail extensions or fancy art, just nicely groomed and painted nails. Hubby, of course, would prefer that I not spend the price of a good dinner in Bangkok just to have my nails done, but it would be nice to have a high-end manicure/pedicure.

This may actually be two questions:

1. where can buy bottles of genuine OPI/China Glaze nail color?

2. where is a good place to have a high-end manicure/pedicure at a reasonable price?

Just to complete the circle on this post -- I had a great time in Bangkok and brought 10 bottles of OPI nail color back home to Chiang Mai. I emailed the link suggested by saruya and (amazingly) received a reply the next day from the GM of Progressive International telling me where a retail customer could go to purchase a few bottles of OPI in Bangkok.

It's Beauty Department Store, within easy walking distance of Central Chidlom:

They had somewhat over 100 colors of OPI nail color, plus OPI accessories. It wasn't the complete product line and they didn't have the newest colors, but I was still very happy. You see, my friends can't ship OPI nail color to me via air carriers like DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc. Something about it being considered hazardous material in the U.S. Yes, nail color is hazardous!

While in Bangkok, I got a great manicure/pedicure at 20 Nails at Siam Paragon mall. It cost three times what I pay in Chiang Mai, but they used OPI products and had great equipment, like a whirlpool footbath vs. the plastic dish pan used at the salon in Chiang Mai. It was a nice treat, but I'm glad to return home where I pay Chiang Mai prices, but ask them to use my OPI products.

Sounds like a good store, did they have alot of hair color etc as well?

Nope, didn't see any hair care products. The emphasis of Beauty Dept Store seems to be on items needed to outfit a nail salon or massage spa.

There are quite a few beauty supply stores along Petchburi Road, some of these carry hair care products and not just salon equipment, There is a big one just near Pratunam (on the same side as the Big C but around the corner) and then another one just past Panthip Plaza.

You don't have to signal a social conscience by looking like a frump. Lace knickers won't hasten the holocaust, you can ban the bomb in a feather boa just as well as without, and a mild interest in the length of hemlines doesn't necessarily disqualify you from reading Das Kapital and agreeing with every word. ~Elizabeth Bibesco
