LOCAL merchants bewail the current surge in prices of basic commodities on Koh Samui saying this has driven their sales down.

Mrs. Boonnongthip Mongkol, 74 , who sells rice and curry at Hua Thanon fresh market, says prices of meat, fruits, and vegetables have spiked substantially since last year and they have become almost unaf- fordable to average consumers.

A world wide problem.... rising price of Oil/ gasoline affects everything in the food chain.... and everything else too .... doesn't anyone watch world wide news?

Why would Samui be exempt?
