P.o. Box In Thailand

Featured Replies

Some time this year I will be moving to Thailand as a longterm visitor. Since I won't have a fixed address on arrival I wonder whether it is possible to open a PO box in Bangkok as a non-resident and if so what will be the charge?

I've got one - costs about US$7 per year.

Often very difficult to get a normal 'post office' P.O. box at least in the larger towns.

I've had an M.B.E. (mail boxes etc.) box for the last four years and have never had any mail go missing EVER. These offices are available at most of the big supermarkets, Lotus, Carrefour etc.

The're a little bit pricey at 300 baht a month but I'm more than happy to pay that given the sterling service I've received over the years.

Forgot to mention, type of visa to get a P.O. box is not an issue at all.

a P.O. box rental at most post offices in Bangkok cost 150.-Baht (~$3.75) per year.

you will also have to pay a 300.-Baht fee as key deposit (one time only).

need copy of passport and visa page, though type of visa is not an issue they want to make sure you are legally here in Thailand. also a street address may be required, probably a hotel/guesthouse should do.
