Hi all, its a bit late but I just thought I'd let you know that Boy Blues Bar will have another great night of Blues music tomorrow night. A couple of great Blues guitarist from the States are lined up to come and play. So if its not too late to work out what to do Friday night come over to Boys in Kalare Night Bazaar for some great music. Here's a clip of 'Memphis' Harry playing last night at the Bear Bar, I'm sure you'll like him live:

Live music usually starts around 8.45 p.m. It's not a big place - seats about 40 to 45 people , so in case it is going to be busy, it pays to arrive a little early.

That's a cool video. The OP said the show is at Boy Blues but that video talks about the Bear Bar: "The Bear Bar plays great music every night of the week here in Chiang Mai. Here the Grapow Gai Blues Band is joined by Harry to belt out a great blues number." What's the story with this place?

I didn't know his name is Memphis Harry. He has been playing at Boy's Blues Bar every Monday which is open mic night weekly. My wife and I have been going every week. This last Monday he was there playing and about 3 other guys who were nearly as good, plus Boy. We really enjoyed ourselves, as we always do. I left with the feeling that Boy's Blues Bar deserves to be better known among farangs in this town. Boy is super friendly and happy person. There was a pretty big crowd there Monday. The other nights Boy has himself and his house band. Boy really plays crisp Blues electric guitar rifs.

I think anyone living in, or visiting C.M., who is into blues music (Thai or farang) knows of Boy and/or his club. He is quite high-profile and well-known and well-liked. He is also well-known in Phuket from his gigs there.

And yes, he is a really good guy and a really good player.

Boy's Bar definitely does deserve more custom from the local farang population; music is great, location is cool, atmosphere different, bar prices reasonable - and Boy is a lovely guy.

Hi Marty, I recorded Harry at the Bear Bar (old Guitarman bar) wednesday night, they had a great Blues session that night and is another place for all to check out our Chiang Mai music scene. Boy has a mate from Chicago coming over tonight to play and Harry agreed to come tonight as well. Really think it will be a good night, Boys and the Bear Bar are well worth a visit.

Where exactly is his bar?

I know the area fairly well but the last bar I knew him to have changed and is now closed again I think.

Quite fancy coming down tonight if I can find it.

Quite easy to find. Its in the Kalare Night Bazaar, upstairs - just next to the foodcourt and old stage area. The enterance is on the main walkthru from Changklan Rd. You wont miss hearing it.

Yep, piece of cake to find it. Walk into the Bazaar area from roughly in front of the Le Meridien Hotel, then look up. It's an open air podium deck just above all the shopping, between Chang Klan Road and the performance stage.

Hi Winnie, Boy has moved across the road into the Kalara Night Bazaar proper. You can't miss upstairs, the stairs are on the main walkthru, opposite the enterance to the guest house and just near that small pizza booth. If you look up from anywhere around there you'll see (and Hear) Boys.

Starts around 8.45pm, hope to see you there.

Thanks. I'll definitely go to Boy's place tonight - I love blues.

I found the web site for the Bear Bar and it looks very cool. They have a lot of videos of the musicians who play there and it looks great. Do you know if their blues jam is on every week? Their web site has a pretty good schedule but next week's shows are not there yet.

I don't know if the Bear Bar blues jam is a regular thing. The one the other night was well publicised on their Facebook page, so if you link up to them on Facebook you'll be kept up to date.

Boy's Blues Bar has a Jam Night every Monday. I haven't been to it recently, but I hear that recent Mondays have been very busy, with lots of good musicians coming along to participate.

I get the feeling that tonight might be a busy night at Boy's, so again, if you want a good seat, it might be smart to get there closer to 8 than 9 pm.

Enjoyed my time there on Friday.

Wasn't feeling 100% though and ducked out earlier than i wanted.

I'll be back for sure though, cool little place with a very good feel about it

Great music on Friday, good people met Claire one of the owners, very nice person. I am also extremely thankful to Laura clap2.gif who found my iPhone on the floor and kept it safe for its eventual return to my grasping hands. Whew, and thanks again!

Being from out of town, I thought this might have been about a gay bar.

Good music.

This has been brought up before. Boy had planned to change the name when he moved last year to 'The BB Blues Bar' to save any confusion, but everyone knows and loves it as 'Boys'. In the end its about the great music and nice friendly atmosphere and not anything else.

Hey Mr Clough, if you missed Boys mate from Chicago (Rockin' Eddie) here's a youtube clip I took of him later in the evening:
