Hello guys, it has beed a while since I posted in CM forum.

Tomorrow at 6 pm (Monday 30th) we organize a free seminar on how to build an international educational business. If you have time please come, it will be worth your time. Only one hour so you have nothing to lose but a lot to gain. Also if you have never visited our Walen Chiang Mai school it would be a perfect occasion to see the school as well as meet our teachers and me in person. I believe we can do something wonderful together. You are welcome to bring friends along, we have 50 seats available.

Walen School - knowledge is power!

About a year ago a friend and I went to a free 1 hour seminar at his school in Chaing Mia on how to learn free at his school.

After 2 hours of talking, I could have said the same thing in less than 5 minutes. 5% discount for every other new customer you bring in. So yes it could have been free if one was to set out and do it and make the time. But I doubt anyone every really got up to the free mark.

It really turned me off and both my friend and I went to school up the street.

Now offer a free Buffet and I might go even though it will run over time, (just gives me more time to eat !)

Never had a seminar for 2 hours yet. We may have longer seminars as people are more and more interested in doing business with us. It could not be so bad as you've described, perhaps you did not like me and if that was the case I could not help. I am not sure but I think I remember you, were you the guy who runs some online business and requested 30% flat per student, was it you? I did not agree so that could be a reason to dislike me and going to another school, I have a good memory but I would have to see the face to be sure. I hope you made much progress at the other school, hope you are satisfied and all the best to you.

So very easy to criticize others, isn't it. If you have a better offer to those potentially interested in the educational business in Chiang Mai please share with us. If what you offer is better than Walen's deal I might join myself and I am serious about it. I have an accounting background so we can make calculations to compare.

Still appreciate your comment Jeffrey. If you ever need a reliable business partner you count on me. I may not talk so much but I am very efficient when I work.

"international educational business"

?

Hope it's not teaching English.

No, not teaching English. It is business like the topic of the seminar states. Please come along.

Clearly you don't remember me, and no I don't do web or internet business,

Yes the seminar was just about 2 hours though we were told 1

But you never did say how many did get the free schooling by signing up 20 in your pyrmid sceem ?

I suggest you just stick with your school and teach Thai and English to those who want

Not friendly again. Pyrmid sceem? No idea what you are talking about. Perhaps you mixed up something. Still I am a friendly guy so you are welcome to come again and we talk more. Our business is transparent so all can be checked. Thank you for your suggestion, really appreciate it.

But isn't this the problem with 'education' these days, the fact that it has become a business.

Private educational institutions existed for a long and they are all run as businesses. If educational standards are maintained it should not be a problem.

If people don't want to go, do they really need to comment about it? With the ASEAN free trade agreement right around the corner in 2015, it makes sense to get as smart as you can about business here in Chiang Mai if you want to compete with a labor force that is able to move freely across borders to find jobs here in Thailand. Keep in mind that labor force is comprised of all the ASEAN countries plus Korea, Japan, and China. If you thought it was hard to find work in Thailand before, just wait until 2015 when you are competing with millions of Chinese looking for a life better than what they can find in China.

If you wait for the perfect plan to come along then you will be waiting a long time and might miss out on an opportunity. There is also the possibility that you might be able to learn something you can apply to another business as well.

I'm going and hope to learn something. It's free and I'm sure Mr. Walen will have some nice refreshments to keep me happy while I am there.

No comment on the school or the seminar but with respect to the ASEAN and the job market in Thailand; you're too late. The Chinese (and others) are already here! I go swimming almost every day at a place that no one seemed to know about. For the last 18 months I've always had the huge pool to myself to swim laps in. Over the last week the pool is full all day and night with Chinese who have been sent here by their companies to learn Thai language and assist/prepare in the opening of their factories and other businesses here in C.M. Each day and up until the pool closes at night there are about 30-40 young Chinese there. They are quite friendly and I have been talking with them. What gets me is how clever and motivated they are. Some have only been here a month now and already they are speaking decent Thai language with their Thai hosts/chaperones. They almost all speak a little bit of English, some better than others. They also told me that in the next month or two, another 150 young people from their different companies will be arriving in C.M.

When I see them sitting around the pool, they are not playing with or chatting on mobile or MP3 devices like the Thais, but are studying and reading books. Very impressive!

That's actually good news.. Means I can traffic in a maid who speaks English. Can I start holding my breath?

I stopped using Facebook because of your negative comments about it (no real friends, it's a spying service, they don't care much about thai people, hongrian is going to overtake it) should I start using it again?

EDIT: clean up quoting.

I am using Facebook and the fact that it is considered by countries like Vietnam and China as a spying service is stating a fact. Regarding hongrian is it not an easy project but I am still working on it.

I think you said it all on this subject.

I honestly hope your seminar was a success for the people who attended.
