'Harassed' Airport Red Shirts Pressure Pheu Thai For Help

Recommended Posts

Posted

"Although airport security has called the group a mafia, the red shirts say airport officers threaten them and police arrest them for trespassing and illegally collecting parking fees.

Hm, perhaps airport security and the police got it right, because after all...

"We hope Pheu Thai will watch over us but if the government continues to work like this, we have to rethink the Pheu Thai Party," said Wipoj Apornrat, one of the red-shirt leaders."

...they do deploy mafia tactics (i.e. "either act as we dictate you to or we're going to withdraw support, or might consider something worse").

On another note, Suvanabhumi must be the only airport in the world whose parking facilities are "managed" by a policial grouping.

"Today Pheu Thai is the government but why are the red shirts still getting arrested? Have they already forgotten the red shirts? We hope Pheu Thai will watch over us but if the government continues to work like this, we have to rethink the Pheu Thai Party," said Wipoj Apornrat, one of the red-shirt leaders.

To add more fuel to the irony fire, Wipoj Apornrat is also a Pheu Thai Party-list MP.

.

And of course like quite a few red shirts who happen to be PTP party list MPs, he would be facing terrorism charges if not for his parliamentary immunity.

... arrest warrant on terrorism-related case include Arisman Pongruengrong, Suporn Atthawong, Adisorn Piengket,

Pol Lt Col Wipoj Apornrat, and Payap Punket.

Is it standard of PTP MPs to think that now that they are in government, that they can break the law without being arrested?

yes

And just to think this is happening at the world's tenth best airport cheesy.gif .

Just to make sure there is no inaccurate reporting: we all verified earlier that Suvarnabhumi is the 25th best airport in the world. It is only 10th best if you put a lot of qualifiers in, such as:

- international

- with between 40-50 million passengers/year

- in Asia

- in Southeast Asia

- in Thailand

- in central Thailand

- with 20km of Bangkok

- run by Thai speakers

- where som tam is served

- where som tam is served by Thai speakers

- where gangs run the car park

... and even then, it's probably only the 3rd best!

I wonder if they will use their men in black again to force the government into doing what they want,

Never mind the legalities of it.

They are red shirts above the law.

Crooks in Thailand DO NOT get arrested for illegal activities. Look at all the idiots who get "transferred" rather than arrested. Look at all the prison guards and administrators who brought drugs into the prisons...any one arrested? Look at the millions of pills missing from hospitals...anyone arrested yet? Miracle Thailand.

I don't know who has the concession so I would welcome anyone, even the pro-Red posters, to put up this fact.

But it would seem that the group having a protest is out in deep water, but I will wait with my big laughter at the joke of a group they are until proven.

I'm not sure I understand this...every time I go to the airport, I use the car park and pay at the toll....I've been many, many times recently and it's quite easy and quite cheap, although the car park is too small and sometimes you have to double park. Where do these 'red shirts' operate? Are there other parking lots?

It should be quite easy to check if they have a concession or not. If not, kick them out. If the have, stop the harassment.

You know what is so interesting is that every time there is a genuine negative red shirt story, the Thaksin-supporting-posters on this board remain strangely quiet. I wonder if these guys are .................. (continued on page 97)

probably because the people you are most likely referring to as "Thaksin-supporting-posters" just consider themselves normal people and leave the usual suspects, who hate everything red, to their typical rants.

For example, in this article, there is no clarification what-so-ever regarding the claims of those being arrested. But nearly every post here assumes that they are guilty ... as, of course, all red-shirts must be...

Good point, are they fighting over the little booths as you leave the car parks? Surely not?

This should be clearer.

There have been issues with the parking lot concession at Swampy since before it was open. Does anyone remember this:

http://www.nationmul...l_18113079.html

A Thai businessman claimed that a sister of PM Thaksin demanded a bribe of 48 million baht to give him the Suvarnarnabhumi parking concession & then gave it to someone else!

Another bribe, but it looks like this one didn't work.

How can you brake the law if you are the law?

The red one think they are the law and own the country.

So why are they arrested if they are the ruler?

Or maybe big brother doesn't care about them?

I doubt Thaksin will hire them for that :-)

Roughly Interpreted The Red Shirt message seems simple enough: i.e............ "We put PTP in power, now protect us, while we extort money from the public, otherwise we just might vote for the opposition next time"

I remember that story, and it came to mind when this thread started. The version I recall is that he said he handed the money over to Thaksin's wife. Gotta love the Nation version of the story, she is referred to as a " relative"... :-) He apparently did not get what he paid for, so he made some noise and said he was going to go public with all the details. I believe a phone call was made by a " person of influence" , as in the next few days he recanted his story. Then of course Thai style the entire story simply disappeared.........

Are you talking about the school kids now? ;)

Somebody mentioned the wrong education earlier. I think 'some kind' of education would help. Every school has bullying, and it is by the 'rich kids'. "My dad is more powerful than yours, so give me your lunch money." It starts there!

I was bullied at school, cos I was fat. The rich kids would steal my dinner money and go and buy a bike!

I was called 'porky', and that wasn't cos I was caught doing something disgusting to a pig... I married her! cheesy.gif

But seriously, bullying is taught by the bully parents, the majors, the MPs all for the love of teaching their kids how to be abusive and get their way. That's why these bullies at Suvarnabhumi think they should get their way... their up-line pay receivers have taught them they will......

Honestly speaking, how would you rate the probability of innocence? I presume you recall the armed takeover of the car parks?

If obligate Thaksin apologists had any shred of integrity, they'd be denouncing this kind of crap for what it is.

The article is so slim on facts, what is there to denounce?

One could possibly go through the exercise of "if this, ... & if this is true, ... then, ..."

But that would just be speculation.

One doesn't need to be a Thaksin apologist, nor an Abhisit apologist, nor a TVF apologist to denounce something that is wrong... On the other hand, facts are helpful.

Waipoj Apornrat is also not just a run-of-the-mill Red Shirt Leader.

Sae Daeng said he was to become part of the new ultra-exclusive team that ruled over the Red Shirts.

A week after this startling revelation, Sae Daeng suffered a head shot.

No new team of red shirts leaders : Nuttawut

gallery_327_1086_25836.jpg

BANGKOK: -- A red shirt leader on Monday dismissed as groundless a claim by an outspoken general that ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra appointed new team of red shirts leaders.

Nuttawut Saikua said Maj Gen Kattiya Sawasdipol maybe misinformed or misunderstood that Thaksin was not happy with the existing red shirt leaders who Kattiya said were changing their position to a compromising one in their talks with Abhisit government.

"Seh Daeng's report is not correct. Maybe he is misinformed," Nuttawut said.

Kattiya claimed Monday that he talked to Thaksin on a phone on Sunday. "Thaksin said he would appoint of new team of the red shirts leaders."

The new team would exclude Veera Musikapong, Jatuporn Prompan, Dr weng Tohjirakarn and Nuttawut Saikua as they appeared to agree with Abhisit's roadmap and prefer to end the rally.

The group had several secret meeting with Abhisit's team, Kattiya said.

Nuttawut told reporters that even Thaksin has no authority to change the leaders' team.

Each of the new team claimed by Seh Daeng has not yet been contacted about the matter, Nuttawut said.

Kattiya quoted Thaksin as saying that those who did not want to fight on should go home.

The new team comprises Arisamun Pongruengrong, Suporn Attawong, Kwanchai Praipana, Waipot Apornrat.

That was the week after they had been sued for defamation by the Shinawatras for the eighteenth time*, so one can appreciate their trepidation.

Do I understand correctly that a bunch of redshirts with no connection to a legally registered company and none to the airport, think the government - which should be asking the police why they haven't arrested them - should instruct the airport authorities to facilitate their collecting protection money from car park users?

Or have I missed something in the translation?
