Tsunami: God's Revenge Against Women

Tsunami: God's Revenge Against Women

In Banda Aceh one year after the tsunami, the purveyors of shari’a blame women for the disaster.

MARLUDDIN JALIL, a Sharia judge who has ordered the punishment of women for not wearing headscarves, was uncompromising: “The tsunami was because of the sins of the people of Aceh.”

Thundering into a microphone at a gathering of wives, he made clear where he felt the fault lay: “The Holy Koran says that if women are good, then a country is good.”

Thought the Joooooooozzzzzzz and Bush Hitler were to blame for the Tsunami? Did I miss out on something? :o

Sounds familiar.... Sure I heard this line many times in Christian gatherings too. Maybe not about headscarves though, but <deleted>, thats not really what its about is it. Its about control and power.

The one thing religion has down pat and knows how to play the card and that is "Guilt"

I saw a program on BBC about the tsunami and God, or where was God. There were a bunch of <deleted> saying that all the Swedes that died deserved it due to their laws on homosexuality.

Good program although the guy presenting was biased against the Hindu and Buddhist philosophy on incarnarnation.

Did they come to the memorial services and witness the pain of the surviving families?

Talked to a gay muslim waiter in Trang (yes, I was a bit incredulous myself as he would have serious problems with that combination in many muslim areas - did not investigate the matter further though) and one of the things he said was that it was thought among many of the local fishermen population that the tsunami might be Allah's anger because the tourists took off too much of their clothes when at the beach.

I then asked him how come Sumatra, where the absolute majority of the population are muslims and very few tourists go, was even harder hit than Thailand.

He had no answer to that.

:o Nutters - unfortunately they are serious when they spout this rubbish!

Unfortunately, it's 'nutters' like these that get away with stoning women to death for the "crime" of adultery... while the men walk free! :o

Always thought men caught in adultery get killed as well.

No, the man was tempted by the woman so she is the one to blame. I read a story once, a personal account thing, where a young girl was having problems studing because her brother's frineds were making too much noise. So, she went to tell them to be quiet. They had been drinking and decided to rape her. When the authorties got involved they determined that this young harlot tempted these fine young men and thus she needed to be punished. She was stoned to death.

OK I get you although I don't think this is a case of adultery.

AFAIK adultery has to do with a married man or woman screwing somebody else without the consent of their other half.

Middle east - they lop off the heads of both man/woman who committed adultery. :o

I've attended a couple of public choppings but they were all men; never seen any women getting beheaded.

Big case in Saudi early 80(s)?? One of the Saudi Royal Princess(s) got the chop with her lover.

Bit before my time; I'm there since the early 90's.

Its about control and power.

You bet it is mate.

One thing that Isaw really p1ssed me off was on the BBC. There was a short segment on the Christians flocking to Phuket to make their conversions. One person was so proud to report that she had the pleasure of removing many buddhist amulets from around Thai peoples necks and replace them with a cross. Victory for the Lord :o:D:D
