Ive been helping a Thai neighbour choose a new mobile phone , and in doing so , just come across this model , which seems to be now available in Thailand . For the price it does seem to have a good specification , ......... what do you think ?

For 13,500 you could get a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which pretty much poops all over this phone.

I thought the target price was sub 10,000?

The neighbour for now seems to be leaning towards the WellcoM A99 for around 6,000 Baht

This Oppo was just some thing I spotted .

I have in front of me I have a Thai glossy IT magazine and in it is an advert for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus priced at 19,900 Baht .

Mobile phones that can call and msg people, and wake them up with an alarm clock sell for 800b in Big C.

Tell your friend to buy one of those and spend the 12,000b difference on something that matters.

I have owned a phone from Wellcom ........ that was also a piece of shit, battery never good, failed after 3 months.

It really is a poor idea to buy a mobile from these no-name/third rate companies.

Samsung, HTC, Nokia .... all would be much better, even if second hand.

The problem with that is my Thai neighbour wants to be ''in'' with the '' smart phone '' in crowd biggrin.png

Ive spent hours with my neighbour looking for a new Android mobile phone that has the radio frequencies he wants .

GSM 850/

3G 850/2100

And under 10,000 Baht , it seems not as easy as it sounds , the only phones so far we have found that meet his radio frequency specification and price point are ..

WellcoM A100

WellcoM A99

WellcoM A88

WellcoM A89+

iMobile i693

Motorola Fire XT ( XT531 )

Motorola Defy Plus ( Defy+ )

Can't find a Samsung so far sad.png

Gosh, I was doing some Samsung Galaxy series shopping today on the internet, like at the True and DTAC website, and at Lotus. You can get Galaxy Y for around B4,800, a Galaxy Mini for around B5,000, a Galaxy Cooper or ACE Plus for around 8,900. And these work on the four GSM frequency bands and the 3G 850/2100Mhz bands. Plenty of Samsung smartphones for under B10,000...they are everywhere!

There are some counter shops in MBK selling the SGN for 13,500. YSR Shop has it for 13,900 (mail order).

Sometimes it's better to let people find their own way on purchases like this, otherwise you'll be holding their hand ad infinitum.

Hi and thanks for the comments , I did originally look at all the phones you mention , and found that they seemed to be missing a radio frequency that my neighbour was looking for

Yea, they come in 3G 850/2100Mhz and 900/2100Mhz verisons. Here's a TrueMove link that shows some of their 850MHz smartphones. Link I thought I found a TrueMove link earlier that listed a lot more Android 3G 850Mhz phones. I think True's and DTAC's 3G runs on 850Mhz and AIS's on 900MHz....so a person needs to get a smartphone for the 3G service provider he plans to sign up with.

Thanks for the link, I'm going to check it out .thumbsup.gif

I know someone with a phone from this company, it's a piece of shit.

That is interesting about the Oppo phones because their Blu-Ray players are supposed to be extremely good from all the reviews i have seen on the net. Don't know anything else about the company tho.

So it's a face thing, basically.

In which case tell him to keep saving, and get a Galaxy S3 when they come out today...
