Great choice. I see you have already fixed a tall windscreen and flatfoot. What other mods are you planning?

I'll go and install the crash bars tomorrow morning. I'll put a tank pad and some nice wheel stripes. For the rest I will wait to go overseas to buy them, as the taxes are killers here. Some good handguards, a givi topcase and some cameron soft panniers are my plans... For the tyres, I know that most people say that the riding is much better when changing with good ones, but I'll wait to use those ones a bit first wink.png

Bought my crash bars and tank protector at Real Motorsports. Wheel stripes done at Ritz Racing in Rachada. Changed my OEM Dunlops to Pirelli Angel ST at Ritz as well. Bought my Givi topcase, side panniers (hardcase) plus brackets at Givi Malaysia (soft panniers don't sit nicely). Consider changing your rear sprocket from 46T to 44T - makes a huge difference to the ride, especially if you're not going off road much.

There are some good Versys dedicated forums available as well, with lots of good info and exchange of ideas.

Are you in Bangkok? We should meet up for a ride someday.

My Versys, 2010 model and the Mrs D-Tracker 150,2012.

My bikes been waiting for me for nearly 2 years while I've been finishing up in the UK.

Here full time now and started riding up here in Phetchabun, what a difference from Pattaya, quieter roads, mountains 15 minutes away...I am going up them every day now just for the twisties and the cool air up there. I will be out exploring the area over the next few months.

The Versys is pretty standard, got R&G crash bungs, which are prettier than engine guards, EBC HH sintered brake pads,Storm handguards, but still the original rubber, which has to go soon.

D-Tracker 150, well its a little bike for the Mrs, but they are pretty bulletproof and we like it for local. Happy with the Versy, does everything well, sorted really.

Get some Pirelli Scorpion Trail on your Versys, much better than stock and ideal for exploring the mountain roads which are often pretty poor.

Cheers skybluestu, will do as soon as I can find someone to fit them locally and source them of course, any recommendations on vendors?

Cheers PP

Scooters aint bikes so my first and only bike to date here in Thailand is an old 1986 SR 400, I grabbed it a few weeks ago.

As it is currently

Off for some mods

And will look something like this in a few weeks.

I kind of like the army green, thinking of doing my Ksr a similar colour to that, but a bit closer to the Ducati Diesel colours... Nice bike though, be interested to see some more pics when you're finished, I like the SR400's a lot.

Google 'pirelli.in.th' and it takes you to the main Pirelli dealer, always had great service from Charlie there and she speaks great English so no language problems. If there is a Cockpit or similar in Phetchabun then they could probably do it.

First bike in Thailand: Yamaha TW200 - a few mods, fun bike, saw most of suburban Bangkok from it.

Current bike in Thailand - Suzuki DR200SE

IMG_0713Large.jpg

Current bike with Vapor speedo/custom cluster (I made it!) The old speedo only worked on HOT days :) ... Funky hose on handlebar lets me swivel my GPS.

CIMG0349Large.jpg

Suzuki DR200SE: de-restricted (pipe, airbox, rejetted), Hotcams Stage II bumpstick, misc mods. IRC GP-1 rubber.

I like it because it is a lot lighter than most 250 4-strokes (smaller frame, engine/trans), but still quite bulletproof. Previously pretty under powered, the breathing mods made it come to life. Easy to toss around tight trails, my wife and I toss it in the back of the pickup, head for a new locale, mount the Garmin GPS, and explore the back roads/trails...
