No war room set up: Noppadon

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Thaksin Shinawatra's legal adviser Noppadon Pattama denied yesterday that the former prime minister's ex-wife Khunying Pojaman Damapong wants a war room be set up to handle the censure debate targeting Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Noppadon added that he was not worried about the political ban being lifted on the 111 members of the now-defunct Thai Rak Thai party, because Yingluck alone would make decisions about the Cabinet. He added that his sources both inside and outside Thailand had told him that there would be no Cabinet reshuffle this month.

Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit yesterday confirmed that a pending Cabinet reshuffle was just a rumour, adding that every ministry was doing a good job but they did not have the right public relations strategy to publicise the fact.

"There will be no Cabinet reshuffle to make space for the 111 politicians, because any and all changes will be made for the purpose of improving the government's ability. All the ministries are working well, but the press is focusing on charter amendments," Prompong said.

He also announced that rumours about Pojaman preparing a war room for the upcoming censure debate were not true because the government was always ready for parliamentary examination.

Citing Democrat adviser Banyat Bantadtan's remarks earlier that his party was planning to hold forums in several parts of the country to explain how it was a bad idea to amend the Constitution, Prompong said this move would only cause disharmony in society.

"This shows that the Democrat Party does not respect the voice of the majority. If there are any problems, the Democrats should take all the responsibility," he said.

I thought they already had a Censure Debate War Room to go along with their Corruption War Room, an Internet Blocking War Room, an Energy War Room, a Flood Control War Room, etc.

A Corruption War Room?

Are they going to be having a "crack down" on "war rooms" now?

Not this month, indeed. That's because a new Cabinet reshuffle will likely occur in August as Noppadon explained to the other paper this morning.

This is because the government wants to focus on clearing up the misconception of everyone that inflation is intruding on their lives.

.

I thought that the entire government is only focusing on getting Thaksin back, according to the democrat party. Don't you follow the party line any more?

For the first time (and probably last) I share you thoughts!

The press is doing a good job keeping this topic in front of everybody. Only the PTP want the press to be quiet. Journalists keep this up front where all can see what they are doing. Or they will do it behind your backs. Like the passport and the visa's and who knows what else.

If Thaksin's mouthpiece is denying that they are setting up a war room, then rest assured that they are indeed setting one up. Standard Thaksin play book - deny what you are really doing.

Another unelected [ex]Shinawatra putting her twopennorth in! An unelected legal adviser making pronouncements on behalf of the government!

And always the government's unshakeable belief that they can pull the wool over the eyes, not merely of all of the people some of the time, nor merely of some of the people all of the time . . . but of all of the people all of the time: "Yingluck alone would make decisions about the Cabinet." ". . . a pending Cabinet reshuffle was just a rumour . . . every ministry was doing a good job." "There will be no Cabinet reshuffle to make space for the 111 politicians, because any and all changes will be made for the purpose of improving the government's [questionable] ability."

Prompong went on to say: ". . . the press is focusing on charter amendments." Probably because the government is doing so, to the exclusion of the business of running the country.

He then cited Banyat Bantadtan's remarks about a roadshow on why amending the Constitution would be a bad idea, and suggested such a roadshow would ". . ..cause disharmony in society." - something at which the government and its redshirt cohorts are succeeding admirably on their own - before claiming ". . . that the Democrat Party does not respect the voice of the majority," while conveniently ignoring the fact that the PTP actually received some 15.7 million votes, out of an eligible 47.3 million voters, and notwithstanding the fact that an extra 6 million ballot papers were printed.

The extra 7000000 ballot papers where printed on the Dems watch not to benefit the Peau Thai but to fiddle the Bangkok vote in favour of the Dems as the dicrepancies in the dusit polls fully illustrate. Dusit called the voting right in all parts of the country but not Bangkok. At one point it was predicting 24 seats for PT in Bangkok and I think they won 8-9. I have said before that this will be brought to the fore when PT need it , not now. They had a 100 seat majority so keep your powder dry.

As we all know 'exit polls' work on + or - 3% but in some places they were 20% out on their predictions. Never ever heard off anywhere in the world

agreed.

If the Dem's are and they are not fixating on bringing Thaksin back that would be listing to the majority. remember Thaksin only got 48% of the popular vote.

The truth of the matter is the Dem's want him to come back. They will even supply transportation first class for him. They just don't want to give him a special card saying get out of jail free.

What the bashers-for-no-good-reason of the current government, tend to "conveniently" forget when citing the non-majority figures of the PTP is that even thought the PTP "only" won 53% of the seats (even given the issues you noted already) that was also "only" 22% more seats than the opposition, and that such a result is the outcome of a democratic election - which, yes, does mean that the PTP gets to "govern".

Now, as for having or not having a "war-room" or what ever other label one may put on it, who gives a rip.

Reading between the lines it obvious that former prime minister (and current convicted criminal and fugitive's)ex-wife Khunying Pojaman Damapong is just letting the ex know through the legal mouthpiece, that she will not move her faction away from the public tit to make way for his old chums. But will infact fight tooth and nail to stay there.

Not only is the redshirts support starting to fracture and dissolve but the PT party itself is gearing up for a factional fight to protect their spot at the trough.

Seems that a government elected through greed, governed with greed, for the greedy desires of a corrupt leader will tear itself apart for the sake of greed.

RE #13:

What some seemingly neutral persons, who tend to ridicule what others find ridiculous, forget, is that this topic is on "no war room set up' as indicated by the legal advisor of k. Thaksin, the well known k. Noppadon, who seems to be speaking for the ex-wife of k. Thaksin as well and voices his non-concern about the political ban being lifted on the 111 members of the now-defunct Thai Rak Thai party, because Yingluck alone would make decisions about the Cabinet.

So, with all this, bashers should shut up and furthermore who gives a rip.

Ofcourse, you continue to ignore all of the pollsters explanations for getting it wrong.

As we all know 'exit polls' work on + or - 3% but in some places they were 20% out on their predictions. Never ever heard off anywhere in the world

Where do you get that "'exit polls' work on + or - 3%"?

Exit polls might work where people don't care who knows who they voted for, but if people want to keep it secret, you're not going to get the correct result.

As I recall rubl, the original rumours about the Thaksin "war-room" thing actually came from the military. So now it is being denied *again*, and yes who gives a rip.

As for ridicule, if you want to continue to propagate the rampant misrepresentation about the last election as others do here, then feel free. The fact is that the PTP won the last election and now govern based on the concept of majority rule. I understand that sticks in the craw of some posters, but it is also reality.

Obviously with all these factions of the redshirts and PT party airing their dirty linen in public are doing it for a reason. Rarely do you see so many policy leaks and adverse public comments from so many diverse party factions, it indicates how big the leadership vacume is and how heated the push for control is. This situation always ends badly, usually in delf destruction, unless a strong determined leader takes control. The PTP is squandering a majority government that had the potential tp do great good for the mass of the Thai population if they were unified under one leader instead of following the example of their convicted criminal leader and his narcissistic policies.

After the line, "Yingluck would make the decisions alone about the Cabinet" is there any point reading any further?

Yet the next sentence is
He added that his sources both inside and outside Thailand had told him that there would be no Cabinet reshuffle this month.

So who is the source "outside Thailand"? (That was a rhetorical question).

Agreed about the war room.

What I am saying is simple. When it is stated above,

". . . that the Democrat Party does not respect the voice of the majority," while conveniently ignoring the fact that the PTP actually received some 15.7 million votes, out of an eligible 47.3 million voters, and notwithstanding the fact that an extra 6 million ballot papers were printed."

This is just simple denial of the facts and another attempt to misrepresent the fact that the PTP won the election, by a lot, has now formed a government, and is, yes, governing. It neither a military nor a judicial coup. That is how democracy works.
