Crime Manhunt Underway After 3 Victims Burnt in Trang Tyre Fire Killing
UPDATE Four Arrest Warrants Issued Over Brutal Murders and Body Burning in Trang Palm Plantation Picture courtesy of CH7. The Trang Provincial Court has issued arrest warrants for four suspects in connection with the gruesome murders and subsequent burning of the bodies, in an oil palm plantation. The incident, which occurred on the night of 10 May in Kalase subdistrict, Sikao district, has shocked local residents and drawn national attention. Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat Chalermsri, Commissioner of Police Region 9, personally visited the crime scene and ordered a comprehensive collection of forensic evidence. Investigators believe the murders were motivated by a dispute over the management and financial interests of the palm plantation, rather than extortion or protection racketeering, which had been initially suspected. Following an in-depth investigation, the court approved warrants for the arrest of the following suspects: • Mr. Supakorn (alias Bin) • Mr. Jaranchai • Mr. Rapheepan • Mr. Piyasak The four men face six serious charges: 1. Murder involving torture or acts of extreme cruelty 2. Concealing, relocating, or destroying corpses to cover up the crime 3. Armed robbery 4. Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition 5. Carrying firearms in public without permission 6. Discharging a firearm in a public area without just cause Authorities have also launched a manhunt for a grey Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck (license plate from Nakhon Si Thammarat), believed to have been stolen by the primary suspect, Mr. Supakorn. It is thought the vehicle may have been hidden by the suspects, who fled to seek refuge with relatives of Mr. Jaranchai in Nam Phut subdistrict, Mueang Trang. Police are now intensifying their efforts to track down the suspects, dismantle the wider criminal network linked to the plantation dispute, and bring those responsible to justice. Crime Grandson in Mental Health Crisis Takes Bedridden Grandfather Hostage in Khon Kaen

Panic gripped a community in Ban Phai district of Khon Kaen province on 13 May, after a 30-year-old man in the midst of a psychiatric crisis took his bedridden grandfather hostage, holding him at knifepoint for over half an hour. At around 11:00, the Ban Phai Police Station’s 191 emergency centre received a distress call from residents of Sumnamai Community, Soi 3, Mittraphap Road. Locals reported that a man had taken an elderly relative hostage inside a private residence. Police chief Colonel Prachayamas Chaisura responded swiftly to the scene with a team comprising investigators, suppression officers and local administrative officials. Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Sornchai 30, armed with a 10cm knife, straddling his 70-year-old grandfather, Mr. Hiew, who is a bedridden patient. Witnesses described the situation as tense, with Mr. Sornchai threatening to stab the elderly man while appearing detached from reality. Despite repeated pleas from officers and neighbours, Mr. Sornchai remained unresponsive, murmuring that he missed his mother, who works in another province. Police and community members spent over 30 minutes calmly negotiating with the suspect, offering him water and attempting to soothe him. Eventually, Mr. Sornchai calmed down, surrendered the knife, and allowed officers to safely take him into custody. He was promptly transferred to Ban Phai Hospital for psychiatric evaluation and treatment. Colonel Prachayamas confirmed that the suspect has a history of mental illness and is believed to have suffered a breakdown due to the combined effects of stress and possible medication non-compliance. Mr. Sornchai reportedly works in floral design and had recently been overwhelmed with a high workload. Authorities are continuing to assess his mental health and are reviewing measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
