can any body tell me due to weekends and holidays ive lost 15 days of my 1 year retirement visa, can any body tell me if i go when it expires on the 31 st of May will i get my 15 days back?

Better rephrase that as what you want to know is unclear to me.

Weekends and holidays are of no consequence, the date it expires stays the same.

How can you lose 15 days. If it expires on 31 May then that's when it expires. Are you claiming it should expire on 15 June but someone stole 15 days from you by changing the date to 31 May. What you say makes no sense at all.

I can only guess that you're mixing the dates for the "90 day report" up with your retirement visa. If so, then it's 2 different things.

As stated, your visa will expire on the same date every year - whereas your 90 day report slip will appear to "lose" some days now and then, due to the amount of days in any given month.

Only my guess......

I think the Captain pretty much nailed it. My local Immigration Office (Phitsanulok) calculate the 90 days from the day your paperwork gets to the office and not the reporting date itself. So you do appear to lose some days. If I was to report in person it would be over a 450km journey, a lot easier and cheaper by post.

Can you reply to lopburi3's post?

There are two things that you need to look at. The expiration date on the visa itself and the permit to stay stamp put in by immigration. Your visa if it's a multiple entry visa expires one year from the date of issue not from the date you first used it. You get 90 days each entry which includes the date you enter unless you have an OA visa which is for one year each entry.

Sorry, but you're still not making any sense.

In the title you mention a "Retirement Visa" - technically, there is no such thing.

Do you mean:

i) An O-A visa obtained from a Thai Consular office in another country;

if so, is it a single entry or a multiple entry?

ii) An extension for retirement from an immigration office in Thailand?

Either way, you get a one-year permission to stay which is 365 days.

You cannot "lose" any days, not for holidays nor any other reason.

If you are referring to the 90 day reports, then you can have the dates for this slip, depending on when you go and if there are 31 days in the intervening months.

You just have to make sure you report in the '7 days' after the due date rather than in the '15 days' before the due date to counter this.

You certainly won't get anything "back" at Mae Sai.

Edit - why does a cool.png end up as a smiley?

It's done it again - the second letter of the alphabet!

Hi, hope I'm on the right page. I have a Retirement Extension till 21 May - I have been out of the Country for 10 months so no need for 90 day reporting.

Today I went to Jomtien with TM 47-I paid the assistant to copy all relevant documentation which he did no problem when I was called up I handed all to the Immigration officer who madly stamped away-he handed me my passport back and said next time please (he was very pleasant) bring your proof of Address.

After checking my Passport there is no Visa Stamp? but a receipt telling me my next report date is 14/08/2012.

1. Is this correct and do I need a stamp

2. if not, what do I need to do

3. Retirement extension expires is 21 May 2012

4. Can I get by on the stamped receipt until 14/08/2012 when I have my next 90 day report.

Thank You

What you did was a 90 day address report. Nothing to do with your extension.

You need to go to Immigration before Monday and apply for a 12 month extension based on retirement.

If you don't you will be on overstay after Mon and will be fined 500 Baht a day and risk arrest and deportation.

And why a 90 day reports was even accepted is beyond me as you obviously have not been here 90 days if out of country 10 months since last extension of stay. It would not be due until 90 days after your return.

As said you need to present financial proof/proof of address/copies of passport data/visa/extensions/departure card and TM.7 with 4x6cm photo and pay fee of 1,900 baht for extension of stay ASAP.

I'm now in a serious dilema. I booked a taxi for 7.30 am to Bangkok which was a no show-waited till 8.30am then hailed a taxi, said yes, he knew the Embassy got to Bangkok at 1.30 PM after he stopped twice to get petrol. After a complete stuff up and grid lock as to where he was going I didn't get paperwork completed until 2.20PM leaving no time to return to Jomtien I.O.

Will they accept it first thing Monday morning. If not, what are my options.

I know, should have done it Thursday but had to wait for paperwork from Landlord and Bank.

Will definitely be early next application.

Thanks
